Works For Me Wednesday- My Favorite Beauty Tip (GIVEAWAY!!)

wfmw If you only knew how little attention I have paid to any sort of beauty regimen since Silas has been born you would click over to someone else for beauty advice. Showering seems to have fallen way down on the priority list, replaced by sleep, food and more sleep. So unless large bags under your eyes are the “it” look for fall, I am not sure beauty tips should be my expertise.

But back in the day (2 weeks ago to be exact) I used to care much more about my appearance. Actually who are we kidding, 2 weeks ago I was nine months pregnant. Apperance was falling way behind sleep, food and more sleep. The more things change…..the more they stay the same.

Anywho, the point is I used to care about beauty. I don’t like to leave the house without a little makeup and try to keep up with the latest fashion and beauty trends. I even occasionally contribute articles about fashion and beauty over at Blissfully Domestic. So I don’t know if you noticed, but I have a little widget in my left sidebar that gives you all a beauty tip of the day.

Here it is. Go ahead, click around, I’ll wait…. :

I don’t know if you have noticed it, because it is kind of small, but I will tell you my favorite tip so far. I am super lazy when it comes to taking my makeup off at night and I know my skin is going to pay for it big time in the future. So if you are lazy, stash a few packs of Pond’s Wet Cleansing Towlettes in your nightstand so you can do it from bed. How much more lazy can you be? But makeup is off and you can go to bed knowing your skin won’t suffer for your laziness.

The widget is sponsored by Unilever and the tips are for body, hair and face using their products. And their tips come from top fashion and beauty stylists as well as dermatologists and other experts. And Unilever wants to give you the chance to win a gift basket of their products you can use to beautify yourself. To enter, simply leave a comment with your favorite beauty tips, from the widget or otherwise. The winner will be picked next Tues night, Oct. 27 by Random.org. Good luck!

*Disclaimer: I was not financially compensated for this post. I was given a small gift pack of Unilever products but the opinions of this post are all my own.

  1. Here’s hopin’…Lol I absolutely love the Ponds Cleansing cloths (and the CVS knock-offs!) for taking my make-up off at night! I also use the Dove Skin Vitalizer, for those rare evenings when I have time to “pamper” my face!

  2. Use olive oil as a moisturizer for your face. Seems weird, but if you mix in equal parts castor oil and a drop of an essential oil, it works really well. It is natural and has no weird chemicals.

  3. Beauty tip: if you have time for nothing else, slap on some mascara and tinted lip gloss.

  4. You’re right, I never did see the beauty tip of the day, but maybe I subconsciously skip over all “beauty tips” lol! Oh but I do see that dreamy Michael Buble and have already purchased Crazy Love :) Beauty tip–um never rub your eyes . . . you’ll be sorry –if you have . . . pile on the dove and pond’s creams.

  5. I want to win but I can’t think of a favorite beauty tip…
Oh, here’s one: coconut oil is a great natural, healthy skin softener. I love to use it after a shave, or any time i might use lotion. I also used it on my belly as it was growing.

Oh yeah! little baby H is here – Aiden Timothy :)
b/c my water started leaking early, I had to be induced half a week past the due date.

  6. Thanks for the giveaway! I tend to not use much on my face. I think it helps keep it from getting too oily!

  7. My tip: vaseline cures all ills! Seriously, I use it for my extra-dry T zone, my lips, chapped skin the winter, etc. Even Martha Stewart swears by it. :)

  8. My tip: SMILE! It does wonders ;) A little under eye conceler never hurts either!

  9. nicolerenae says:

I use Mary Kay velocity cleanser and moisturizer. I’ve used it for years and love it!

  10. Kristen says:

I use vasoline on my eyelids and area under the brow in the winter to keep the skin from drying out and getting flaky. I rub a little on at night and I’m good to go in the morning!

  11. I am the worst about taking my makeup off at night!

I like to put a little light eyeshadow on the inside corners of my eyes to help me look more awake. :-)

  12. Great giveaway! Thanks for the opportunity!

Beauty tip? I am the WRONG one to ask! Here is goes though…give your skin time to breathe away from makeup. I take mine off each evening as soon as I know I’m in the for the night (sometimes as early as when I get home from work). I put on moisturizer to replenish it and let it breathe on its own without makeup.

  13. I like a little tint to my moisturizer, but I hate paying so much for tinted moisturizer. I now put a squirt of moisturizer in the palm of my hand, add a drop of foundation and voila! Tinted moisturizer!

  14. Shelly says:

I’m also awful about taking my make-up off at night. I need some help in the beauty area all together. Most days I go out only wearing some powder and chapstick.

  15. my beauty tip – always use sunscreen! I make sure I use a tinted moisturizer even if I don’t put on any other make-up – I’m fair, and burn so easily!

  16. I also use light eye shadow on the inner corner of my eye and under my eye brow to brighten my eyes. Love reading everyone’s tips!

  17. I’m not big on beauty other then brushing my teeth and hair. xD

  18. love the Ponds microabrasion cloths. best tip is making sure the water is warm to hot while washing the face so the pores can really open up.

  19. I have turned into my aunt, and I can’t leave the house without mascara. If I don’t have time I’ll skip other things, but not the mascara.

  20. I like this beauty tip from Carmindy on What Not To Wear–put a little white eyeshadow under your eyebrows and by your nose (don’t know how to describe)–I find that makes me look more awake than I actually am.

  21. Lori S says:

My beauty tip is to use conditioner. It really gives your hair a shine and easier to manage.

    Thanks!

  22. My beauty tip is to leave conditioner in your hair, instead of rinsing it out. Especially if you have thick, curly or out-of-control hair. The extra moisture and weight helps keep everything looking smooth and silky.
    .-= Allison´s last blog ..Wordless Wednesday =-.

  23. I like to use babywipes to take my make up off at night. I swear baby wipes gets everything clean!! And with 3 kids I always have them on hand.
.-= Tasha´s last blog ..Trying something new.. =-.

  24. A little bright pink or white at both corners of the eyes makes you look more awake – if only it made you feel that way. Still working on sleeping and naps here across our own little pond. (Wish me luck on both accounts)

  25. As an older(!) woman who is reaping what I sowed in earlier years, ladies, if you do nothing else, cleanse, and moisturize! I thought I didn’t need to moisturize because I had oily skin, but I woke up one day and realized I had “crossed over”. There is oil-free moisturizer available, and my advice is–use it!

  26. I like to use babywash to take off my eyemakeup – doesn’t sting, and I always have some around! ;)
.-= Kristi_runwatch´s last blog ..TILT: children’s book author edition! =-.

  27. I like to use an exfoliater of baking soda and water paste to occasionally scrub my face.

  28. I agree, those disposable face cloths are so helpful! (I’ve not tried them from my nightstand before…but…)

BTW, I have a bloggy award for you over at my place!

Hope you’re surviving the School Closing Week!

  29. I use mineral makeup. If I forget to wash it off, it’s no big deal!

  30. I have very sensitive eyes, so the usual makeup remover does more damage than good. I use baby shampoo to wash my face and get the crud off my eyes!

  31. Patricia Stacer says:

Best beauty tip…always wear sunscreen. You will continue to look radiant and young as you age if you take good care of your skin when you are younger.

  32. Jennifer Y. says:

I am so lazy when it comes to these things. I started using a tinted moisturizer to take care of 2 things at once. Now that I saw a PP’s frugal way of doing it, I may adopt that method!
