When Two Ain't So Bad

There are days when having a two year old makes for the longest days ever. The insistence on doing it herself, the frustration when I can’t understand the gibberish she is saying, the endless tantrums, there are days when I am throwing myself on the floor and screaming waiting for my hubby to come home and relieve me.

But then there are days like today. Days in which we get to cuddle and snuggle and most importantly giggle. With Lily in school, I actually get Hannah all to myself 3 mornings a week. I am so grateful for that time cause you know the second child always gets the shaft when it comes to getting mommy all to herself. I have loved deepening my relationship with Hannah and further delving into her quirks.

Cause this girl is QUIRKY. And she keeps us all guessing and laughing. One of her favorite things is to play hide and seek. Usually with her sister. And she usually hides in the exact same place and typically very loudly. As in repeating over and over, “Come find me!!” at the top of her lungs.

But today she didn’t have her sister around to play with.  So she played with a sippy cup. You heard right, a sippy cup. She would “hide” it then go to the opposite corner of her room, cover her eyes and count to 2 over and over (she actually knows how to go 3, but it didn’t make the cut), then go searching. And by searching I mean looking in places she knew it wasn’t and saying, “no” over and over. Then when she found it she would exclaim in a surprised voice, “Found you!!” and then start over again. I’d say those 5 minutes make every tantrum bearable.

Well, almost…

  1. Aww, that sounds so cute! I love it when they entertain themselves! I wish we could get Sophie and Hannah together – that would be the Playdate of the Century!

It’s so funny how toddlers make up their own little games! All the snuggles and silliness does make up for those grumpy moments.
