Welcome Back

I didn’t really plan to take off the whole month of December, but it has been a very crazy month and once I started it just was so lovely. There is a part of me that desperately wanted to come back and my fingers were itchy to write again. But another part of me loved the quiet. I read books. I played board games with my family. I binge watched some shows. I celebrated Christmas 4 different times. We made our first fire in the fireplace since we moved in 8 years ago. Just lovely.

Now it is the new year and I have already started bracing for it. I think this is going to be a challenging one for reasons I will explore in future posts. I know I am supposed to have resolutions or a word or goals to mark the year, but I don’t. All of those things would require brain power I just don’t have right now. So instead I just want to focus on taking each day at a time and soaking up the joy in it. I think that is a pretty good goal for any year, don’t you?

I have some new things I want to explore on the blog this year. I hope to give it more of my time, but that probably won’t happen for a few months. So in the meantime will you bear with me? I miss interating with you all in the comments. Tell me. What’s new in your world? More importantly, where my Downton fans at? Who is watching this season???

Downton here. Trying to brace myself for the cold/snow day tomorrow. I missed the routine of school. Love my family but crave schedules. Looking forward to reading more from you!

  2. So happy it’s Downton time again and even better that it’s a snow day so we can sleep in. :)

  3. Welcome back! I think that the “down time” — including the Downton time — is wonderful time, indeed, and your plan to take it slow and soak up daily joy is just perfect. (Sometimes I think all of the New Years fervor, even perpetuated with good intentions on the Internet and in the blogosphere, can sometimes overwhelm instead of motivate.) In a nutshell: enjoy just living! That’s my goal for this year, too.
