I just returned from a lovely getaway with my hubby to Sonoma, CA. We really needed a getaway sans kiddos after kind of a stressful year and thankfully he had built up enough miles to make that happen. We also scored a sweet deal at a swanky hotel thanks to Jetsetter (the second time I have used them and cannot recommend them enough). I drank a lot of wine, ate a lot of cheese and laid around doing a whole lot of nothing for a few days. It was heavenly.
When traveling I still like to look stylish but I don’t want fashion to be anything fussy. I want to be comfortable first and foremost. Secondly, I like to layer a lot so that I can adapt to changes in weather. Thirdly I want things that mix and match a bit so I am not packing 3 months worth of clothes for three days. Here is what I wore last week while traipsing around wine country.
This is what I wore on the plane ride out to San Francisco. I love scarves on planes because I always get cold and they keep me warm. The sweater was perfect for the cool morning but when I was in the sun in the afternoon I just took it and the scarf off. These are my boyfriend jeans but I feel like they are getting kind of dumpy looking and it might be time for a slimmer pair. The second day we spend in a bus/ van touring around wine country. Again it was slightly cool in the shade but low 70s in the sun so I layered. I think maxi dresses are the world’s best fashion invention. You are wearing a dress and can look dressy but it is basically like wearing pajamas around. I wish this necklace was a bit longer for this neckline, but I still like how everything came together.Old Navy Jacket: Old Navy Shoes: Target Purse: Old Navy Necklace: local boutique
The last day there we spent walking around downtown Sonoma so comfy shoes were a must. And layering was essential because we started out early in the day when it was still kind of chilly. I love these pixie pants from Old Navy so much. They photograph a little weird, but are adorable. Let’s pretend we don’t notice the obvious belly pooch which comes from too many days of a steady diet of cheese and wine……similar) Pants: Old Navy Jacket: Old Navy Shoes: Crocs
We had such a good time in Sonoma and are so thankful that we have amazing parents who can watch our kids so we can get away!!
