Toddler Meals for Busy Days- Works For Me Wednesday

I don’t know how many posts I have started this way, but I hate lunch. I most certainly hate deciding what I want to eat, but sometimes that is because I am so weary after deciding what to feed my kids. It is either PB&J ad naseum or they suddenly decide they detest PB&J and every other thing I toss out as an idea is met with a no. It gets exhausting.

Thankfully, my dear friend Tricia has come to the rescue with her new ebook Survive Before 5: Toddler Meals for Your Busy Days. It is packed with toddler friendly meal ideas for breakfast, lunch and dinner. And they are all freezable, easy to make and did I mention kid friendly? Each recipe also contains customized labels for each of your prepared items AND recipe cards containing photographs and some step-by-step photos.

She does all the work, and I reap all the rewards. This is why it pays to have brilliant friends in the blogging world. And you can get your hands on this fabulous book yourself even if you don’t have friends in high places. It is only $7.99 which I personally think is a steal for all it offers. And I am not biased at all. Ok maybe a little. {disclosure: affiliate link}

What is your favorite easy, but semi-less boring than PB&J lunch idea for the kiddos?

  1. Megan L says:

    Fish sticks with broccoli steamed in the microwave (2 minutes hands-on time, 16 minutes wait time)

    Tortilla filled with cheese, shredded carrots, leftover meat, ketchup; folded over and microwaved for 30 seconds

    Most days, though, they have whatever I prepare for Daddy, since he gets to come home an :)d have lunch with us :)

  2. Quesadillas are big here. Or, any sort of leftovers, especially if it involves chicken or mashed potatoes. Sometimes I make homemade fries and hot dogs. Tuna from a can, they love that (my daughter is constantly sneaking that into my cart!). Smoothies are good, though usually breakfast. Mac’n’cheese if I don’t have any creativity, and I usually try to serve some veggies and meat with it. Those are our most common choices.

  3. I also dislike the play that goes along with lunch. It seems like lunch takes an hour, from start to finish and by the end I am losing my mind. My kids are s-t-a-r-v-i-n-g before I feed them, but the minute I put their plates on the table, it’s like I’ve unleashed monkeys. They are screaming, climbing, jumping and generally not eating. Sigh.

    We do a lot of sandwiches and bean and cheese tacos, and my girls really like tuna, so that gets tossed in there. Mostly, I just try to find whatever I think is healthiest and try not to make it a fight. Though, 11:30-1 is my second most dreaded time of the day {follows the 4:30-5:30 time slot!}.
