Tis The Season- Hot Mama Gowns

giftHave you been shopping lately? Because Costco is decked out like it is Dec. 23rd and stores began playing Christmas music in August. Apparently when the world is in a recession the cure is getting us so annoyed with the holiday season we buy things in huge quantities. Completely logical.

Anyway, since I just popped out a kid, I have begun receiving baby gifts. Combine that with the holiday bombardment and it just seems like gift giving time is upon us. So I thought I would start sharing some great holiday (or otherwise) gift ideas with you during the upcoming months. Many of these are products I have been given to review, but some are companies I actually reached out to because I think their products are so great that I want to share them with my readers. And I have tried to line up giveaways/ discounts whenever possible so that you my readers can get a little Christmas shopping done while we are at it.

So without further ado, let me introduce you to the Hot Mama Gown. I defy you to see that name and not click over. Cause when I found this lovely company over on Twitter I was immediately desperate to partner with them. Here’s the deal. Birth is NOT a pretty process. If you haven’t done it, you will very quickly realize that. There is grunting, sweating, pooping (yes pooping), sometimes screaming and then they plop a sticky, bloody baby on your chest. Who looks like the most gorgeous angel ever made to you at the time, but let’s be clear, the coming out process is less than glamorous.

Then there are the after effects, most of which are too unpleasant to mention, but the worst is how nasty you feel. You are in this awful, scratchy gown that does nothing to flatter the large amount of extra weight you are left with and there are all these people wanting to take your picture. No one looks good in those pictures. I try and ban them from getting taken, but the hubby always sneaks in a few.

So imagine for a moment that you are instead lounging around in a flattering, beautiful gown that is made from organic material and allows you to still nurse comfortably (and discretely). I know vanity shouldn’t be your concern when you have just brought the miracle of life into this world, but I still want to look pretty darn it. I mean I was putting on makeup while laboring so that those after pics wouldn’t be so atrocious. Hot Mama Gowns allow you to do just that and I love mine.

hot-mama-gowns-antoinette (not me, but that is my pretty gown- although I would kill to have a birthing suite that looked like that)

I began wearing mine in my 8th month of pregnancy because it was so comfy and made me feel more pretty and less beached whale. And while I didn’t actually deliver in mine (I didn’t want to mess up all the pretty), as soon as I could get in the shower, I changed into it and wore it my whole hospital stay. The nurses were in awe. They could not believe a hospital gown could be so pretty. And I am still wearing it post birth because it makes nursing so convenient. So this gown is getting a lot of use.

So why am I telling you about this as a gift giving option and not say a “Things I Love Thursday”. It could fit there because I truly love this gown. But they’re pricey and I just don’t see them as being something you would necessarily buy for yourself. Well I wouldn’t, although after owning one I can truly say you get a lot of use out of them beyond the hospital and the quality of the gown warrants the price (part of the reason for the price is the commitment to being 100% organic and US made). But I think these would be such a great gift for a girlfriend’s baby shower. Go in with a couple of friends and get a unique and memorable gift. It is so nice to feel beautiful and cared for after the birth and that is what this gown makes me feel.

Two more great things you should know about Hot Mama Gowns. I have been working with Deidre the owner and founder of the company for a few months now and she is one of the most delightful people I have ever worked with since I began doing reviews for this blog. Her customer service is amazing and the gown comes so beautifully packaged it really does make a gorgeous gift. Also, for the month of October, in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, 25% of every pink Grace gown will be donated to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

Please check out the website and keep these gowns in mind for your pregnant friends, sisters, granddaughters, etc. The company and the gown have been very good to me and I would love to pass on the joy of owning them to others. And you can own or gift one at a discount!! Hot Mama Gowns is offering my readers 15% off through Feb 28th . Just enter “Silas” in the coupon code box and you are good to go.

  1. Cute! What a great idea– I wore the hospital gowns the first time around and felt so BLAH! The next time I brought my own nightgowns but they were that cute and they weren’t easily maneuvered for nursing… These gowns look perfect!

  2. Oh, they are SO pretty. And yes, pricey – but you know what – bringing another human being in the world kinda entitles one to a gorgeous – if pricey – gown! That’s my opinion – and if I get pregnant again – I’m going to request one pronto!!! The pink Grace is SO lovely – and how cool that they’re donating to the Komen Cancer fund on October orders! Good stuff, Little Mama!

  3. oh that’s pretty :)
I’m kinda wishing I had one, but then I remember hubby and me bought me some cuddly pajamas that button down the chest so I can nurse, and that’ll be wonderful. It’s the softest fabric… (TJMaxx is the greatest!) Can hardly wait to wear it, lol :)

But anyways that is a great gift idea!

  5. this is a good post to read today since I’m IN the hospital post-partum! I don’t think I could justify the moolah on this, even with 15% off, but I agree it’s a killer concept that would go a long way as a gift for a new mom. And a killer birthing suite too. :)

  6. Way cute! I’m on the lookout for a couple of something like this… and actually… my birthing suite will look like that! I’m way excited!

  7. Jessica says:

The best gifts I received after having my boys was products to help me relax. I know time becomes short after kids but it was a reminder that as mom we still need to carve out a bit of time for ourselves. My favorite gift was organic Himalayan bath salts from Sustainable Sourcing https://secure.sustainablesourcing.com. Absolutely amazing and I leave the bathroom feeling renewed and refreshed—hard to two with two boys on your legs all day!
