Those Crazy Kids

For Valentine’s Day this year, the hubby and I bought a Living Social deal for a weekend away at the Hard Rock Hotel in Chicago. We actually go to Chicago a lot, but in the eleven years (eleven years??) since we met we really haven’t taken the time to walk through memory lane to all the places we used to spend time when we were first dating.

I have told our story of meeting a few times, but in case you don’t know it, we met at church in Chicago and soon realized we lived in the same building. So this weekend we went back to that building, walked hand in hand down the streets and went to one of our favorite restaurants from our early dating. We pretended we were 25 again instead of *mumble mumble* (yes I realize if you even paid remote attention in this post, you can do the math).

I don’t know who those crazy kids thought they were, getting engaged after knowing each other 4 months. But we knew, and I haven’t regretted that decision for even second. I would do it all over again in a heartbeat. Love you babe!

Very unflattering picture of us staring into the sun in front of the building where we met.

  3. Oh, fun times! We get to go back to our “dating grounds” all the time since the hubby’s grandparents live in that town!

  4. Awwww, you guys are cuties! Hope you had an awesome relaxing weekend :) We are hitting 11 yrs this summer too!

  5. Aww!! You guys. You always talk about how your parents were HS sweethearts and still in love – 25 is practically just out of high school, right? You guys are on exactly the same path.

  6. Fun! My best friend lives in Chicago and while we were living in Iowa, we would visit pretty often. Although, the first time I was ever there was in the dead of winter – I came up from nice and warm Austin. I liked it, but thought my girlfriend was crazy for living there. Little did I know, Iowa gets just as cold. ;)

    • Chicago has a brutal cold wind though. We were saying as we were walking around, “Was it this cold when we lived here?” I guess you just get used to it when you are there.

  7. What a great way to spend your Valentine’s Day! Memory lane can be such a great trip with the one you love, and on such a special day!
