Things I Love Thursday- Yo Kids Squeezers

I am not into organic as much as I should be. Mainly it is a cost thing. But one area where the hubby and I have tried to stay organic since our daughters were born is dairy. Well not necessarily organic, but hormone free. Cause I don’t know if you are paying attention but girls are hitting puberty crazy early these days. And they hypothesize this is do to all the hormones in our meat and dairy. Seeing as we don’t eat tons of red meat and the chicken we buy is hormone free, we have focused on the dairy.

This will hopefully prevent the early puberty thing. And I am sure our daughter’s will recognize how loving that is when they are the last in their class to get boobs and their period. Then again the gene pool isn’t exactly filled to the top with DDs either.

Anyway, Lily stopped drinking milk one day around 15 months. Up until that day, couldn’t get enough. After that day, wouldn’t touch the stuff. I have tried everything, but nothing works so we now just stuff her with cheese and yogurt. Hannah loves milk, but wants to eat whatever Lily is eating so…we need lots of yogurt in the Diaper Diary household.

When the girls first started eating yogurt, I swore by Yo Baby. It is made with hormone free whole milk and tastes super yummy. Seriously, it is like ice cream. Not that I ever ate containers by myself and would know. Ahem.

Then one day, the kids discovered squeezable yogurt. The marketing geniuses at the yogurt companies were kind enough to put Dora, SpongeBob and Scooby Doo on the packaging. Not that my kids have even seen the latter two, but cartoon character equals begging in the store aisle. But the sugar content is outrageous and I am faced with the whole boobs at 9 dilemma.

Enter Yo Kids Squeezers. 25% less sugar than the other brands and as they put it, no “yucky stuff” added. Yippee!! The only thing is they cost a bit more and are a little harder to find. And my kids seem to think that eating 3 at lunch time constitutes a meal. How ’bout a side of yogurt with your yogurt?

So they are totally worth the hunt to find them. If you can’t find them at your regular grocery store, I would try your local health food store. And here is a coupon to sweeten the deal! See how I take care of my peeps.

Do you have something you love? Our little carnival is growing every week. Make sure you link back here in your post and spread the comment love to the other participants. Some other guidelines are over here. Link on up!!

  1. My 20 month old son will not drink milk. He loves the soy stuff! He used to eat yobaby yogurt everyday and then one day he wouldn’t touch it. I haven’t seen the yo kids squeezers. I will have to watch for it and give them a try!

  4. I wish I could get my kids to eat yogurt. My youngest son will drink the Danimals as long as it’s strawberry flavored. I tell him it’s strawberry milk and he’s fine with it.

  6. thanks for the coupon! we can’t get enough yogurt in our house, either. fortunately nathan will still eat his off a spoon, so I can buy the big tub of plain and he’s happy. but it’s hard to find it without the fat removed! maybe someday he’ll be big enough that I won’t worry about that anymore.

I TOTALLY feel you on the boobs at 9 thing. the only “natural” thing we consistently buy in our house is milk, too.

  8. I have not tried the squeezable yogurts yet for my kids. I know what you mean about the characters on the yogurt containers. My kids will only eat Diego and Dora and that is it!

  9. I love all the ‘Yo’ yogurts! Sean thinks “squeezy yogurt” is the bomb! It’s hard to find them though – Meijer has them sometimes (but seemingly always after my coupons have expired) and Kroger has them sporadically. Wish they would make up their minds!

  10. Ooh! I’m going to have to try those! My kids love yogurt, but I’m not always very good about finding organic alternatives either.
