Things I Love Thursday- Sonicare for Kids

TILT   The last time we took our kids to the dentist, he politely told us that our kids needed a bit more monitoring when they brushed their teeth. They didn’t have cavities, thank goodness, but I am not sure their teeth looked so hot. In my defense, Lily had a few loose teeth and wouldn’t let anyone near her mouth. And Hannah….well I have no excuse other than I was usually nursing when the kids were brushing their teeth. So really it is the hubby’s fault.

I know I fall a little short in making sure the kids always do a good job on their teeth. So I need any help I can get. The hubby and I have both used Sonicare for years. But I had no idea they had toothbrushes for kids. So I was really excited when Mom Central gave us a chance to review one for them. The package came while I was in the Dominican Republic and all my kids could talk about on our Skype calls was THE TOOTHBRUSH.

Honestly, we have all become huge fans. First off, it just looks cool which gets the kids excited. But what gets me excited is that it teaches my kids to brush longer and better. It plays music when the kids should brush a new part of their mouth and helps them to brush their teeth for the full recommended time- 2 minutes. That is honestly a really long time for a kid, but they do it with this brush. And I love that it comes with 2 different sized heads so they each can use the brush. Cause there was some whining when the brush came and I had to pick who would get the fancy one. They have customized it even more by switching up the 2 front panels that you can click on.

The downside? Honestly, I know the price might turn some off. But if you use a normal toothbrush I am just not convinced it is getting my kid’s teeth really clean. We switched to a battery powered brush a few years back, but then you are replacing batteries and eventually the brush so it isn’t like that ends up being all that cheap. And dentists aren’t cheap. I would rather pay on the front end to keep my kid’s teeth in the best shape possible than pay for fillings and root canals.

You can find the Sonicare for Kids at Amazon, Walmart and Target.

I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour campaign by Mom Central on behalf of Sonicare and received a free Sonicare For Kids toothbrush to facilitate my review. As usual all opinions are mine.

  1. We could definitely use some help in this area too. I think my kids have like 5 teeth they just brush over and over. We even use a little egg timer, but they still don’t do such a hot job…

  6. Kelli says:

Hmmmm, I’ve been wondering about these. I have a friend who used one for her little girl and they love it. It is a little pricey, but I totally agree with paying now or REALLY paying later. And trust me, you aren’t alone in not being the best “supervisor” when kids brush their teeth. I’m dreading my daughter’s first dentist appt. =)

  7. Sherry says:

Sweet! I have 2 in braces and 1 that really takes care of her teeth, but the other could care less. This would definitely help! :D

  8. I’m totally with you on your philosophy–an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure! Some things are just worth spending the money on. I think my guy’s a little too young for this, but I will definitely check it out when he’s older. Thanks!
