Things I Love Thursday- Mom's Plan It Calendar

My life has become unmanageable. Ok, so not my life, but my calendar. Somehow the addition of a child in Kindergarten has made life insane. It was a bit on the insane side to begin with. And the hubby and I were beginning to have one too many conversations that involved, “What you didn’t tell me about that!!” and “Well why isn’t it on the calendar?” Clearly that ain’t good.

You know it has gotten bad when it is 8:30 at night and you have an overwhelming urge to run to Target and replace your calendar. Not that I don’t always have overwhelming urges to go to Target, but it always involves clothes, purses, shoes and housewares. Never calendars. And you know it is really bad when you leave Target with just your calendar cause you are so excited to get home and organize your life.

I have discovered the Moms Plan It Calendar. Big marketing scheme aimed at mom’s overwhelmed with their schedules. Absolutely. Who cares? It is savin’ my life over here. Here is the dealio.

  • It is an August to December format. Cause Jan to Dec. is nice and all, but my life is on a school calendar now so why fight it.
  • Instead of being organized by time of day, it is organized by family members. Therefore hubby and I can keep track of each other a little better i.e. I can have way more leverage with the “if it isn’t on the calendar, it ain’t happening” argument. But they keep the regular horizontal calendar format cause I am easily confused. Seriously.
  • Fun stickers. Stickers make me happy.
  • So freakin’ cute. Cause I am all about the cute.

I am loving this thing. And I am thinking you might love it too. You know what else I love. All of my regular Things I Love Thursday participants. We are growing slowly but surely. Make sure to link back to my blog and make sure to visit other participants and comment often. Soon we will take over the world (Insert evil laugh). Here are a few more guidelines, in case you are new. Otherwise, link away!!

  1. I’m with you, on both the overwhelming urge to go to Target and the need for a better calendar. The one I keep in my head has issues! Thanks for the rec and I love your blog!

  2. You know it’s late when you’re capable of posting the right link but not the right description… My post is definitely not about carpet indentions; I mean, who would love those?

I blogged about iTunes 8. If there’s a way for you to edit my Mr. Linky submission, please do!

  3. my family has fallen in love with the online calendar from airset. you can put things on each person’s tab, then cross-reference them to the family planner. it’s free (I think), and you can access it from any computer since it’s web-hosted. they even have a feature to add a cell phone to the account, so you can look at your calendar when you’re out and about – and it doesn’t actually connect your phone to the internet (that would be pricey!) unless you need to add or delete something – viewing is free and always up to date. I have no idea how they do it, since I am not the technological brains of my family. But it works really well for us.

  4. I love calendars. I love calendars with stickers. But no matter how fancy my calendar is, I still have to remind my husband about everything. I checked his calendar at work and it was still on March. I wonder if there’s a calendar that will grab him by the neck when he walks by it and say, “Look at me!”

  5. I have this calender too and love it.

  8. Aren’t calendars glorious? I don’t understand people who don’t use a planner… I like them just fine, I just don’t understand them.

  9. Thanks for the calendar tip. I have become somewhat overwhelmed this school year. I have a 3 year old and a 4 year old both in preschool plus an 8 month old and there is so much to keep track of. This calendar might work out!

  10. I have seen this calendar at my local bookstore, and I was thinking about buying it not too long ago. With two kids in school, one at home with regular doctor appointments, me with my doctor appointments, another baby on the way who will have doctor appointments, and my fiance’s schedule. I could definitely use this.

  11. Re: the comment two above this one–why did my post show up in its entirety on this site “A Pretty Mess”? Anyone? Is it like an automated thing?

  12. I LOVE that calendar. I may have to buy it. I need to get organized sooo badly!

  13. These are a Godsend! Love the mommy that came up with them!
