Things I Love Thursday- Halo Sleepsack (and a GIVEAWAY!!)

tilt   The second you become a mother you are overwhelmed by two strong feelings. One: intense love. The other: a nearly suffocating fear that you won’t be able to protect them from harm. I remember with both girls waiting forever until they slept for a four hour stretch and then when they finally did I got absolutely no sleep because I kept creeping into their rooms to make sure they were still breathing.

Seriously, SIDS is the scariest thing a new parent faces. And there are a lot of rules to prevent it. Sleep your baby on their backs not their tummies, no stuffed animals in the crib, no loose fitting clothing, and most importantly, no blankets in the bed. That is all well and good if your kid is born in June, or in Texas, but a winter baby in Michigan needs some warmth.

When we had Lily, I discovered the Halo SleepSack.* What a sanity saver.

halo-sleepsack  It’s a wearable blanket that gives your baby room to move and warmth like a blanket but it stays put on the baby so their is no risk of suffocation. It’s like the original Snuggie but for babies.

You simply dress your baby for bed the way you normally would depending on the season and temp and then zip them up in their sleepsack. They stay warm, you stay sane. Well, as sane as you are normally. This sleepsack does nothing to take away the crazies.

How would you like to win a Halo Sleepsack ?* The lovely people over at Mom Select have a pink newborn sleepsack for a lucky winner. It would be perfect for your new little girl this winter or as a shower gift for an expectant mother.

  62. Tyler says:

I have a three month old and we’re right in the middle of the colic tornado. After reading Dr. Karp’s The Happiest Baby on the Block, we’ve been swaddling her every night and it works super well. Hopefully, she’ll soon grow out of the colic and the need for swaddling. Then we’ll give the sleep sacks a try. The look like a great option for the winter time.
