The post where my insanity is fully revealed

A few weeks ago I let you in on a few of my quirks. What I have discovered about myself is that I am actually quite passionate that certain things get done “right.” Loading the dishwasher is a big one. Most women would find it incredibly helpful if their hubby loaded the dishwasher for them. I, on the other hand, would be totally irritated. Thankfully, the hubby knows this and doesn’t come anywhere near that thing. But part of the weird quirk is that I reload other people’s. Mostly just my parents, but occasionally other family. I haven’t been brazen enough to try it a friend or stranger’s house, but the compulsion is there.

Running a close second in things I feel passionate about, the toilet paper. As in it HAS to be rolling off the top. And, true confessions, I have been known to switch it at other people’s houses. I wish I could say just family, but I have even done it at friends. {whispers}…..even strangers. There has been a lot of Twitter buzz lately about which team people fall on, Team Over vs. Team Under. People are oddly impassioned by this issue. No longer is it red state vs. blue state, Fox vs. MSNBC or Jen vs. Angelina. People are very committed to their toilet paper placement.

Here is the good news. According to a recent poll conducted by Cottonelle, 70 % of the human race is on my side. Which is just a fancy way of saying, I AM RIGHT. And because I am right, it is perfectly acceptable, normal and even NECESSARY that I switch other people’s toilet paper rolls to the RIGHT WAY. Apparently according to someone I got it a discussion with on Twitter (a debate if you will), it is more frugal to roll under because you use less paper. But this is one instance where we should pony up a little extra. What is the point of frugality when you are just wrong, wrong, wrong?

Apparently Cottonelle has redesigned their toilet paper to be softer, stronger and better roll over. To be frank we only buy Cottonelle because in addition to being passionate about the way my toilet paper rolls I am also passionate about pampering my tushie with only the softest toilet paper. So I was already a fan. It was not a hard decision when I was approached as a blogger to spread the word about their new toilet paper and commitment to the roll over way of life. I was all, “SIGN ME UP!!”

Am I exaggerating a bit? Yes, but sadly only a bit. I apparently get excited about very interesting things. Oh and if someone wants to send me a new dishwasher so I can passionately talk about how silverware should be sorted by type, the proper way to place bowls to ensure effective use of space and the best way to load sippy cups, I would be happy to do so.

*I wrote this review while participating in a blog campaign by Mom Central on behalf of Cottonelle and received a sample to facilitate my candid review. Mom Central sent me a gift card to thank me for taking the time to participate. Gift card will be used for therapy for my family when they realize their wife/ daughter/ mother/ sister is really insane when it comes to toilet paper.

My husband feels sympathy for your husband. I am the same way… glad to see thatI’m not alone.

  4. I am also Team Over. And yes, I’ve flipped the rolls at other peoples’ houses as well. :-)

  5. Seriously concerned why you are in strangers houses, to begin with, changing their toilet paper. :)

  6. I am the exact same way with the dishwasher. My husband knows to put his dishes beside the sink because I will rearrange anything he attempts to put in the dishwasher (and why wouldn’t people separate their silverware according to type?). I also share the same compulsion for rearranging others. I have to focus extremely hard to not rearrange my in-law’s and find I look at people in a different light when they have a well organized dishwasher.

Unfortunately, I have no opinion on toilet paper. Sorry!

  7. It’s not insanity unless you are on the wrong team – you my dear are on the CORRECT way.

I have also changed it at people’s homes – drives me nuts (typically, only family or close friends). I once had to do it at the doctors because I discovered after going that there was no TP (lesson to self, check before you go!).

  8. Team over for sure! And I think it is perfectly acceptable to fix the TP in anyone’s house!

  9. I just have to say, that “super soft” toilet paper that you (and most) love so much is made from 100% virgin wood fibers, not any recycled. And after being used as toilet paper, it can’t be recycled. So it is really wasting a lot of trees to make our toilet paper so soft. I buy 100% recycled toilet paper only and am considering switching to cloth. Just something to be aware of.

But I agree, toilet paper needs to be OVER and I, too, have fixed it.
