Sorry I went MIA for a few days. My dog (whom I love in an obsessive kind of way) chewed through my computer cord. That is in addition to the crayons, shoes, toys, stuffed animals and socks. Thank goodness he is cute. Sigh.
Anyway, today even Silas got into the swing of things with his first day of Pre-Kindergarten. It seems like a success although it ended with a horrible bloody nose. But he handled it like a champ. And I got 2 hours in a coffee shop just me and a book. Awesomesauce.
I also went to the grocery store to restock snacks because, hold cow, we are going through lots of snacks. I have had them on lockdown to prevent over zealous snacking, but it really isn’t entirely their fault. Besides the one afterschool snack I allow, the kids also need one each day at school. That is each kid. So that is 6 snacks a day and that adds up fast.
I recently was introduced to a Michigan based company who is taking school snacks to a whole new level. Dick & Jane Educational Snacks are yummy to eat AND your kids might just learn a thing or two while they’re munching down.
Your kids get yummy snacks in single serving bags that are nut free, trans fat-free and high fructose corn syrup free. And they hardly notice they are learning about presidents, capitals and even a little Spanish. Comprende?
I wasn’t able to sample any because they contain gluten, but my kids gave them two thumbs up. Silas and I even made a little game out of eating them and talking about each president as we went. Who knew snacks could lead to family bonding time?
They are a little hard to find in stores, but you can find them in many Whole Foods and of course on Amazon.
If you are looking for something to shake up your snack routine, check out Dick & Jane!!
