If you have been a long time reader you know that last year Lily and I took an epic trip out to Portland to learn all about Nike. Since that time Lily has worn the heck out of her shoes that she designed and I am still rocking my bright green kicks.
So imagine my delight when Nike contacted me and asked me to have EACH of my kids design their own NikeID shoes. The other two had been so jealous when they saw Lily’s amazing shoes that they had been begging for their own. And with school right around the corner and feet that had grown out of last year’s P.E. shoes, I was so thrilled to have the best shoes for my kid’s feet back on their feet!
Last time Lily played it cool, but this time she did NOT shy away from the color. Her shoes are so bright and fun and completely fit her personality. When you design your NikeID shoe, you don’t just pick out a few main colors and you are done. You design everything from the sole to the swoosh to the laces to the strings that hold the laces. It is truly a one of a kind shoe!
Since Hannah hadn’t gotten to design before it was really fun to watch her navigate the site as a newbie. It was so easy and intuitive for even a seven year old to figure out how to design a shoe. She loves pink and orange and her shoes just turned out perfect. What I love about the NikeID shoes is that because Hannah wears a smaller sized shoe, her shoes automatically come with velcro. Which is wonderful because someone’s bad and lazy mom hasn’t taught her second grader how to tie shoes yet. #momfail
Silas had to get in on the action too. And even though he needed a lot more help, he had very specific opinions about what he wanted his shoes to look like. I was able to tone things down just a touch because while the girls shoes would be left at school as P.E. shoes I really wanted Silas’ shoes to be worn as every day shoes. I think they turned out perfect.
Want to see the shoes in action. We took them for a spin at the park to enjoy this GORGEOUS day.
check out the amazing waffle design to allow maximum flexibility
Hannah’s shoes were at school so she couldn’t show them off at the park. But as you can imagine they are the envy of their classmates. I can not tell you how many parents have asked me how they can get some for their kids. Pssst……adults you can get your own too!!
Disclosure: Nike provided each of my kids with a pair of NikeID shoes. All opinions are mine as always.
