Reunited And It Feels So Good

keyboard Something very tragic happened last week. I lost something important. Without it I wasn’t able to love, laugh, or even live. I felt like I was only half of myself (Jill). I was very lost. Except I couldn’t be. What happened you ask?

The kids (who both got a case of the “wasn’t me’s”) spilled water on my laptop and suddenly my l wasn’t working. At all. This happened last week. For a night I borrowed my hubby’s computer to blog, check email and tweet the night away. But then he claimed he needed it for work and apparently tweeting about my bathroom habits wasn’t considered work. So I thought I could use my own. How much do you possibly use an l?

A lot. A lot, a lot. First of all my name is Jill. So there are 2 right there. And then it is just a common letter. I mean if you watch Wheel of Fortune most people pick it for their letter for the final thingy. So I began searching pages for an l every time I needed one and cutting and pasting. I wish I was kidding. For 5 days I did this. FIVE DAYS. And every time I needed to cut and paste something else, the l wouldn’t be on my clipboard anymore and I would have to find another one. It was, to say the least, a pain.

My brilliant hubby found me a new keyboard on Amazon for next to nothing. Popped the old one off and put the new one on. And now I have a shiny new keyboard. Sparkly even. Free of stains and spills and little kids sticky fingerprints. All shiny and beautiful for its Blissdom debut. And I can type again. Free of missing ls.

A my ove, Ji (for od times sake)

LOL! Oh that would drive me crazy too, although thankfully no l’s in mine or any of my kids’ names. ;) Glad you have your shiny new keyboard and hope you have an awesome time at Blissdom!

Hubby had the same thing, but it was 3 letters! The cutting and pasting didn’t last long, and he gave into the idea of not using his computer until it was fixed. Poor hubby.

  7. My daughter did this once too. Pulled the “a” key right off my keyboard. The first attempt to fix it didn’t go so well, and the keyboard was missing many keys, including space bar. Hello, can’t type without that! But now it works and I am so happy!

  8. Love your sense of “word play”. That is just where I like to play too. Could it be genreational??

  9. 2 Sundays ago, I was home from church caring for my sick baby. I was on the couch feeding her a bottle and signing in to watch our church online. I sit up my daughter to burp her and what did she do instead??? PUKE all over me, my couch, her and my LAPTOP! I was panicked…I stripped down, then stripped my baby down then went straight for the laptop. IT. WAS. GROSS! Thankfully, my husband was able to take it a apart once he got home from church. He gagged with every screw he removed the smell of throw up was so bad. It is working fine now with the exception of the mouse touchpad and buttons.

  10. OK, who thought of cutting and pasting the l’s? Because that’s just genius. I went about 6 months of no b’s -It was awful. Our passwords for everything -bank, shopping, email… all had b’s… (not anymore, though… we had to change them all) My name has a b! I never (not once) thought about copying and pasting…
