RECARO Car Seats (Plus a Giveaway!!)- Things I Love Thursday

TILT We are a little bit fanatical with our car seats. When Lily was ready to make the jump from her Graco Snugride to a convertible car seat I researched it forever. And came home with a Britax which I loved and it served me well for 6 years.

*moment of silence for the fact that by first baby is a few weeks away from being a third grader*

But hopefully you remember that car seats expire. So we needed a new car seat. And car seats have really evolved since I started this parenting gig. Even more so since the dark ages when our parents just let us sleep in the back window on long trips to Colorado.

I am in love with our new car seat for Silas. The RECARO ProSERIES is designed to be the ultimate in safety but still be incredibly comfortable. I frankly want to sit in it. There is side impact protection. Which also comes in handy when your kid falls asleep in the car so their head doesn’t flop around. It has a 5-point harness and can attach to your car’s LATCH system. It has also met a ton of safety standards in the US and Europe.

But outside of safety one of the most important things to me is how easy it is to install and use. Cause if I need an engineering degree to work it I don’t want anything to do with it. And I have dealt with a lot of car seats from the year that are just impossible to use. The installation was a breeze. Or so says my husband who is in charge of all installation-esque things. Getting Silas in and out of the seat and adjusting the straps could not be easier. There is no twisting or sticking of the straps.

I am such a fan of this carseat and so THRILLED to offer one of my readers the chance to win one. To enter simply leave me a comment about which feature you look for in a convertible car seat. For extra entries:

The winner will be chosen at random from the comments on Wednesday, May 25th. US only please. Good luck!

I received a carseat to facilitate my review. As always all opinions are my own.

What do you love this week? Simply write a post about it, link up below and take some time to visit the other participants. So easy, but if you need a little more help, check out the Things I Love Thursday guidelines. Thanks for participating!

  1. So, beyond the whole safety thing, I look for comfort for my little one. Comfort includes cushion, head support, and fabric. Fabric is actually a big one for me, because so many “easy clean” fabric makes my poor little dudes sweat to high heaven. So, anything with a little extra “breathability” is fabulous! =)

  15. I participated in TILT. Our carseat is really challenging to get in and out of the car. Since we’re likely to have a lot of different people driving us around this summer, I’d love to have a carseat that easily goes in and out of different cars.

I look for a car seat that allows rear facing as long as possible (at least 30 lbs) and forward facing in a 5 point harness for a long-time, too! (Love that this goes up to 70 lbs)!

Safety first, of course, but I also look for ease of use! I don’t want a car seat that’s gonna take me 5 years and a thrown out back to switch it from car to car! :) I’d never heard of this one before, but, from your review, it sounds like a great one! Thanks for sharing!

We haven’t been blessed with a baby yet, so I’m not sure what to look for…I’m sure I’ll be doing lots of research like you! I am an aunt, though–and know that I have to be able to get the baby in relatively easily, and that it needs to be rear-facing for as long as possible.

  40. Perfect timing as we are expecting our second and will need a new car seat. Two things I love – one, that it comes in pink. I know, not really important to the safety overall, but it looks cool. Second, that it has venting fabric. I am always concerned about how sweaty my 3 year old seems to get in her car seat, especially when the little oven falls asleep!

  44. Hey I won’t say no to a chance at a new carseat, not with #3 on the way! I’d say right now, besides the obvious safety stuff,is something narrow enough to fit into a car with two OTHER car seats, something that can convert to a booster so they can stay in it as long as possible, and something that doesn’t have colors that are too garish or loud. (I want to keep my car as calm as possible. You, oh mom of three, can feel free to laugh at me for that. I know I’m being naive. Let me live in denial a little longer. Please? It’s fun and cozy in here in denial world.)

  51. Good carseats are harder to come by than one would think – it always amazes me that something that is a basic need can’t be consistently good – great review!

  76. Oh my gosh, I would so love to win this! We really need a new carseat as the little one is about to go forward facing and the one we have is just a bucket, it has so little in the way of safety like the side impact protection. We actually do have a Recaro for our older son (compliments of grandpa, those things are expensive!) and I would love a matching one. What do I look for in a car seat, well, now I simply look for the name Recaro!
