About six months ago I started reading more fashion blogs (next Monday I will run down my five favorites). I feel like since I have started reading more about fashion I have been much more adventurous in the way I dress. I have always loved fashion, but sometimes we all get stuck in a rut don’t we?
For day to day inspiration I pin things I find on blogs to one of two boards: Fashion and Beauty (a collaborative board with some Blissdom peeps) and Dress Me Up Take Me Out (my own long time fashion/beauty board). In the morning, I head to my board and then head to closet in an attempt to recreate.
Here are a few pics I managed to snag this week of my outfits (sorry for the quality, but you know photoging isn’t my strong suit and my phone is my quickest option in the morning):
I wear my chambray shirt with everything. But I have never thought to pair it with leopard. I think next time I will do a full recreate with the boots as well. Love it (ps. everyone should own a little leopard so grab that scarf from the link above)
Pinterest Told Me To is a blog entirely dedicated to recreating pins that she finds on Pinterest. I’m not even going to try and hide the fact that I steal her ideas several times a week (which is perfectly okay since she is stealing other people’s ideas right?). This is an example of not having the exact pieces from either the pin or her recreation but making a pin work with what you have. I love this orange blazer but it is a bit of an intimidating statement piece I bought on clearance on a whim. So I am always looking for new ways to wear it. I discovered I love orange and gray together. Who knew?
Sometimes you don’t have a single thing to recreate a pin, but it inspires you based on the color combination. After seeing this pin I became obsessed with hot pink and navy. I had honestly never thought of that combo before despite having this shirt for like 5 years. It is kind of ratty on its own so it doesn’t make it into my wardrobe very often. But putting it under this blue blazer gave it new life. This whole outfit made me feel like I should be at an Ivy League school instead of schlubing kids around town in my minivan. (ps. I might be having a small love affair with blazers right now).
If you are a completely fashion moron or even a fashion maven Pinterest and fashion blogs might just be the kick in the pants you need.
Where do you find fashion inspiration?
