Orange and Blue- One Outfit, Three Ways

One of the things that kept me in a fashion rut for a long time was finding an outfit combination and wearing it exactly the same way over and over. If it was a great outfit, that works, but I think it gets us in a place where we get tired of clothes quickly and very bored with our closet. And that is never a good thing.

It seems like you all have been enjoying my fashion posts, but I haven’t posted many with actual pictures of me and my wardrobe. Mostly because I truly stink at taking pictures, but it is something I am going to try and work on. So something I wanted to start trying is to show you how I style one piece, three ways. I am not even going to try and pretend this will be a weekly thing, because I will probably not be that on the ball. But let’s assume I will pull it off more times than not. I am forever the optimist.

This blue shirt has been getting a massive workout this winter. I cannot get enough of it. Actually navy in general. Love it with orange, love it with green, love it with pink. Just love it. Today I will show you a few ways I pair navy and orange. Maybe not the most likely combination (unless you are a Denver Bronco), but I love the way it looks together.

For this first look I just used a tiny bit of orange in the form of a statement necklace. I love this necklace so very much and get a ridiculous amount of use out of it. Everyone should have a go to statement necklace. This goes with everything.

Shirt: Old Navy (similar– I actually LOVE this one even more)

Jeans: Old Navy

Boots: Land’s End

Necklace: Groopdealz (no longer available – MAJOR sad face)

Here is what happens when I add a little big more orange to the mix. Funny story: I wore this outfit to see a play here and a 9 year old boy wearing the exact same outfit sat 4 seats from me. I pointed out our twinness enthusiastically. He was less than thrilled.

Blazer: Target (similar)

The final outfit, orange is the star. There is something you just gotta love about a cable knit sweater. (ps. see this snow? Multiply it by 35 and that is what we have going on right now. Shoot me).

Sweater: Target (similar)

Mix something up this week. Then tell me about it!

  1. I love the last one the most. I have a really similar shirt and it’s a total workhorse in my closet, too. Am a new follower! :)

    lace, etc.

  2. You did a great job with that sweater in the last look and the boots. good color combo!

  3. I LOVE posts like this- it’s so fun to see all the different ways you can style one piece. If that doesn’t break a girl out of a rut then I don’t know what will. Whenever I start feeling in a rut I go play in my closet for an hour or two and try on different outfits- god knows i don’t have time to do that in the morning so it’s nice to get my creativity going :)

  5. I love this bright and cheerful color in the midst of our yucky winter! I never thought that orange could be so versatile but you have inspired me to pull out my orange sweater! Thanks pretty lady! Susan

  6. Love this–the jacket is my favorite. I’m wearing a very similar shirt in my WIWW today!

  7. LOVE this! Have a serious obsession with patterned button downs right now. My favorite is the first!!!! (Probably because I never break out the heavy sweaters here in Austin…) Orange, mustard, gray, navy–in love with all of them. Gave me some great ideas! I’ve been wearing a similar outfit with a chambray shirt (thanks to your advice) a coral sweater and a leopard print scarf with my skinny jeans (YOU, again) and boots. Serious go-to outfit on that one. This post is giving me ideas to shake it up!
