Oh Happy Day

heaven2 Did anyone else see the clouds part, the light shine down and the angels start singing on Friday morning? Was it just over my house? It could have been because on Friday morning my new Frigidaire Affinity washer and dryer arrived. Cue “AHHHHHH” chorus from the heavenly beings.

Except mine were blue without the bottom drawers or cute dog. Yes I could have taken pictures of my ACTUAL washer and dryer, but if you saw the current state of my “laundry room” i.e.. basement back room where all clutter goes to die, you would understand why pictures are not being posted. Hopefully after the garage sale I desperately need to have but haven’t yet planned happens, I will post some glamorous pictures.

Now a new state of the art washer and dryer are nothing to shake a stick at (I have no idea what that means), but these happened to come at a particularly dire time in our life of laundry. You see almost exactly a month before the washer and dryer were set to arrive, our old dryer broke. Really who wants to pay to get a dryer fixed when you know a new one is on its way any minute now? And it didn’t actually break completely, but it wouldn’t get very hot. So clothes would take like 3 hours to dry. I can’t think of a better way to fill my days then running up and down the stairs 10 times a day to restart the laundry. It is odd that I am not skinnier from all that exercise.

So we alternated between running wet loads of laundry down to my parents to dry and drying our clothes Elly May Clampett style in our backyard.

laundry Note: It is not that I am knocking line drying your clothes. I know it is very frugal and all, but I am pretty sure there is a classier way to do it then stringing up a makeshift line between your trellis and trees. Also I should note that trellis has like 134 roses blooming on it now and brings me untold amounts of joy to look at. When I am not gazing lovingly at my Frigidaire that is. And that bare patch next to the trellis is now planted with 2 tomato plants that I have grand plans for they don’t go the typical way of my garden endeavors. That is to the big garden in the sky….

Anyway, to say we are a bit behind on laundry right now is an understatement. It was getting close to desperation time around here. So like a big ole nerd I read the manual to the washer and dryer today so I could take advantage of all the cool features. I will be telling you about them in the upcoming weeks. Dare I say I am excited to do laundry? Wonder how long until that wears off?

I wrote this review while participating in a Test Drive Campaign by Mom Central on behalf of Frigidaire and will receive a Frigidaire Washer/Dryer set to facilitate my reviews.

I have never understood the american obsession with a dryer, half your clothes shrink inside it! The ONLY time my family here in Australia used a dryer was when it rained, and thats the same for most everyone I know, I don’t even own a dryer atm! It’s always befuddled me why you guys use dryers so much… Any insight to this weird phenomina?

    • We only get about 3 months total where we could even hang clothes out to dry. If it isn’t raining, it is cold and snowy. So I don’t know what I would do without it!!

  3. Congrats! They’re beautiful! Although, I do like the idea of you taking a break from baking your own bread to go hang up laundry. It’s just such a different person than the Chicago girl I met way back when :)

  6. Congrats on the new dryer. We actually have a clothes line and love using it in the summer, I love the fresh smell after I bring the clothes in, but are so thankful we have a dryer to use on rainy days like we’re having today. This would be perfect, except our WASHER is broke and we’re waiting for the new part to come in. Argh! Can I send my laundry your way after you’re done?
