The laptop I have been using for the last several years was hobbling its way to its death. It was moving so slow I felt like I was back on dial up and constantly had to be rebooted. As a blogger, this poses a problem. To say I use my computer a lot is a bit of an understatement so this was driving me batty. The hubby got so sick of my complaining he begged me to get a new computer. I was trying to be thrifty, but in the end I was losing productivity and everything was taking me way longer than it should.
So I began to research new computers and pulled out the weekly ads every week to see what steal I could get. Cause although I wanted new, I still wanted to save as much money as possible. I mean that money could be spent on clothes right?
I must confess I mainly paid attention to the “big box” electronics stores. In my experience that is where you went to buy computers. But I found myself a little overwhelmed and standing amongst seas of people trying to get help. And when I went to get help on my old computer from their “squad” I stood in line for so long despite getting there right when it opened. Discouraging.
Recently I was offered a chance to partner with Glam Media and Staples to purchase a computer with the new Windows 7 on it. I had not really considered Staples in my computer search because I typically think of them as a place to get office supplies. But they actually had a nice computer selection and more importantly, the attention I needed to make a smart purchase.
I was met in the computer section by Chris who talked me through all my options. He even tolerated my baby going from cute and flirty to screaming and squirmy. He took a lot of time with me and really got to know my needs and the needs of my family. I think I picked out a computer that will be perfect for us AND I scored a major deal at $200 off the retail price.
You should also know that Staples will price match other retailers so I wouldn’t even bother with the others. As I was checking out the manager came over to personally explain their warranty offerings and assured me Staples looks out for their customers. It was just the added touch that has made me loyal to them in the future.
Staples still has my new computer so I haven’t gotten to test it out completely. You see, they offer to transfer all your files over as well as all your settings from your old computer to you new one for completely free. It is a $70 value and so nice to not have to worry about it myself. I can’t wait to get it and not have a computer that is run by hamsters running slowly on a dusty wheel. It’s like Christmas in February.
I was compensated by Staples and Glam Media to purchase a new computer. As usual, all opinions and my excitement over new shiny things are all mine.
