I think sometimes we feel like fashion is too complicated and so we just live in a rut of yoga pants and ponytails or wear the same clothes for years regardless of whether they fit or they flatter. Fashion doesn’t have to be hard. And it certainly doesn’t have to be some glamorous thing that doesn’t fit our lifestyles.
For whatever reason this fall I am drawn towards black, gray and brown. It sounds depressing now that I type it out (and look down at my black, gray and white outfit I am yet again sporting today). But I am finding that although I am not ready to go full on capsule wardrobe, having a bunch of clothes that I can mix and match around makes getting dressed much easier in the morning.
Currently I am living in skinny jeans (blue, black, grey and olive), graphic or plain tees, cardigans or flannels and black or brown booties. I can spice things up with a necklace or a scarf for variety. And really within that I can make about 50 variations.
Let’s briefly discuss jeans. I did a whole post on American Eagle jeans awhile back and while that post was sponsored, the obsession that followed was not. Their High Rise Jeggings are da bomb. I know the name is 10 kinds of scary, but I am so very thankful that high-rise is back because low-rise jeans weren’t really doing anyone, except those with the flattest of abs, any favors. These jeans hold everything in, are priced incredibly reasonably and AE offers free returns. I just purchased my third pair.
As for graphic tees, I love Old Navy and Target. Plain tees? You MUST get them from Everlane. Their tees feel like they should cost an arm and a leg, but they are cheap and hold up amazingly well. I seriously cannot say enough about these t-shirts. They are a game changer.
Other than that it is just lather, rinse, repeat. Or second verse, same as the verse. Or something like that.
What is your “uniform”?
