Magical Unicorns

imageOne of the presents my kids consistently begged for this Christmas were Pillow Pets. Which is impressive considering how many times my kids typically change their minds about what they want for gifts. But they were unwavering in their devotion to the “As Seen On TV” stuffed delights. They even committed early on to which pet they wanted. Hannah wanted the ladybug because one of the girls she has a slight obsession with in Young 5s has a ladybug pillow pet. And Lily wanted a unicorn. Probably because we are still stuck in princess land and unicorns are all fairy princess-y.

Well their grandma and grandpa came through with the Pillow Pets. Actually two out of three sets came through, but we had to do a little adjusting and they each ended up with one Pillow Pet. They were thrilled. Even little Silas, not to be left out, got a little bumblebee pillow. The pillows have been in their beds every night and snuggled with until the morning. They love those things.

Tonight as I was tucking Lily in, out of the blue she says to me, “Mom, did you know that unicorns can drink whatever they want and never pee?” Intrigued I said, “Where did you learn that?”

Totally straight faced she says to me, “Actually mom, I just made that fact up. But my head is right where she would pee so I hope that is true.”

Awesome.

  8. Gah Pillow Pets! My kids were the same way. They are only 2 and 3 1/2 and they can recognize Pillow Pets clear across a store. Those folks are marketing geniuses. My daughter also was adamant that she wanted the unicorn, who knew? I didn’t even know she knew what a unicorn was. I will have to reassure her that unicorns don’t pee. She will be relieved to know.

  9. Niiiice! I needed that laugh this morning! ;)

  10. Will you please ask her how she drinks (you know since her mouth is sewn up) … I’m just totally curious as to what her answer will be! LOVE IT!!!

  11. My daughter got a ladybug pillow pet too. She wasn’t too impressed at first, but now it never leaves her bed. I think it helps that she also got a dress she loves that makes her look like a ladybug, and so she now has decided to love all things ladybug. Silly kids.
