In Search Of Bloggy Inspiration

help2   I have been staring at a blank screen for far too long. I think my brain has shut down. Typically I have blog posts lined up in the corners of my mind waiting to come out. Tonight…nothing….

I could write about how I have felt like crap all weekend, but I am tired of listening to myself complain about it so I don’t want to fill a whole post about it. And I am pretty sure that will be a recurring theme the next 2 1/2 months so I don’t want to use up all my creative ways to complain this early in the game.

I could write about how tired I am of people asking me when I am due and then reacting in shock when I say Oct. No, I am not carrying twins, no my due date is not wrong, yes I know I am large and pregnant. Plus I think DesignHER Momma covered the topic perfectly and I would just be ripping her off. Let me just say for the record telling a pregnant woman she is huge should be no more acceptable than telling any woman that. Remember we are far more hormonal and prone to fits of hysterical crying and intense rage.

I could write about how thankful I am for air conditioning. And a mild summer thus far (mild summer + pregnancy = happy preggo momma). Because the 95 degree weather with all the humidity today would have killed me without the AC on and a fan on top of that. And I am reminded once again why I could never live in the south. Well that and the whole, you have to be polite thing. I think I would scare the southern folk.

I could write about how much joy I have had for the past week and especially this weekend from watching my kids dance and sing praise songs off their VBS CD. That CD was the best $5 I have ever spent. And watching my girls joyfully praise God with their faces beaming is clearly priceless.

But since I can’t manage to turn any of those into a whole blog post worth reading, how about you, my lovely and faithful readers, tell me what you want to read about. I will keep said list and the next time I am suffering from writer’s block I will pull it out and hopefully find inspiration. What do you want to hear about? What do you want to know about? Or just leave me a comment telling me how great I am. That’ll work too :)

  1. I have been reading your blog for a while because I am a fellow west Michigander. How about a post about what’s so great about West Michigan or what you and your family like to do for fun? Michigan has taken quite a hit lately, but there are so many wonderful things about our state. Just a thought.

You want to know what’s funny? I hopped over here from my reader to tell you how fabulous you are :) and the ad that greeted me was 2 Tips to a Flat, Sexy Stomach!

By the way, you are fabulous. And absolutely cute. I adore you.

  3. You are fabulous! :) Believe me, you don’t want to even visit the south right now. It’s the most scorching hot August ever! It was 80 degrees at 10 PM! :( Bloggy inspiration? Hmm…well, it’s almost 2 AM and my brain’s shutting down. I guess I’m no help at all! At least I gave you a compliment, right?! :)

  4. We love reading your blog even if you don’t have anything in particular to say. ;-)

  5. I loved this post!! You have so much to write about- and I liked reading about your kids singing praise to God! Amazing!

  6. I had to laugh as I was reading the “large and pregnant” part and noticed that the ad to the left advertised a quick fix for a flat stomach. :-) I was quite large for both of my pregnancies, and started getting the questions and comments around 5 months, so I totally identify. One of the worst culprits was my mom; she’d say, “Good grief, every time I see you, you’re bigger!” As if I didn’t know that I was roughly the size of a sofa.

As far as blogging ideas – I’d love to hear your thoughts on how you think your family dynamic will change with the addition of your Little Man. Then in a few months, you can write again about how the reality was the same and/or different from your expectations.

  7. Yes, I have been in the last trimester two times in the Alabama heat of summer. Really not fun and almost passed out a few times. Good find on the CD, my kids love dancing and singing to songs about God also. :) I have no idea why the minute some one gets pregnant or starts ‘showing’ they are all of a sudden getting big and it is ok to touch all they want! Makes me want to hide!

  8. I’m a loyal reader. I feel your pain being pregnant in the middle of summer. My 3rd was born mid-september last year and we live in GA. It’s is HOT.

I love reading blogs with ideas on how to save money, what to do with 3 little kids (mine are 3.5, 2, and 11 mths), craftiness, I LOVE photography.

What about posts on things you want on Etsy or photographs that are simply breathtaking? What about a post with just some awesome quotes?

  9. I laughed out loud to the comment you made about being due in October and being met with surprised faces when you told them that. The same is happening to me and it is truly annoying. I grew quickly and since June have had people saying ,”oh my, you’re not going to have that baby right now, are you?” How do you respond to such a comment? =) I smile, and say, “no, baby’s still cooking and won’t be ready until the end of September,” to which people say, “Ooohhhh.” Oh well! I guess that means we grow healthy children! =)

  10. Well, I enjoy most everything you blog about. But I will say that I understand about the big comments during pregnancy. I was about 7 months pregnant at my 10-year class reunion. I was bummed about that, because for 10 years, I’d dreamed of going to that event looking, well, hot. But I was prego, so that pretty much went out the window. I was chatting with a couple girls at the reunion and one of them asked me when I was due. When I told her, she said, “But you’re so big!” She then went on to assume that I’d already had several children (this was my first) and that I’d go early. Because I was so big.

    That was fun.

Now, in her defense (or mine, I’m not sure), I actually DID deliver early because I got very sick shortly after the reunion. But still. Totally rude.

  11. I am fairly new to reading your blog and this post was nice to read. It was like a small conversation. Too bad you couldn’t hear me responding to you, huh?

I am with you- I love A/C. We moved where we live in August 2 years ago. Not everyone here has A/C. You really only need it for a couple of months. Anyway, I was pregnant when we were looking for a house. We got A/C. Was there any doubt that we would?! I am thankful for it (especially now).

  12. The south is wonderful :D I don’t like to be cold, so…

I was getting a lot of ‘oh, you’re getting so big!’ like I’m a five year old in a growth spurt. (downside of being a young first time mom, ppl are even more patronizing than they are to other pregnant women. I mean, who patronizes a forty year old mother of 8 like my mom? not many ppl.)
Now it’s ‘oh, you look so pregnant and cute’ or ‘you don’t look big enough’ (well I feel plenty huge. Tell me I still look thin but do NOT insult my belly size!)
problem is, my belly was proportionately very small before I got pregnant and my chest and hips were large. So now I just look fat and barely pregnant.

you can keep writing posts like this so I can co-miserate (sp?) :D

Algie (baby’s nickname) is due mid october. Wonder which of us will give birth first?

  13. Andrea says:

I give you credit for even coming up with enough stuff to maintain a blog at all … I run out of ideas very quickly.

I’m in West MI, too and due in October. I currently feel ginormous, but haven’t gotten too many comments about it. I’m sure they’re not too far off, though. :)

The mild summer this year has been a life saver!! I spent yesterday locked in the house with the AC, a fan, and I was still hot. LOL

Oh, and I too think there’s only 1 way to load a dishwasher. :)

  14. I love your blog. Ideas?? How about taking care of our marriage? That’s how I found your blog…1 Cor 7:12 challenge. We have a group of 5 girls (19-35 yr.)that enjoyed your challenge. We meet every two weeks for “girl’s day”. It’s hard to find tips that are directed towards Godly women. I appreciate it.

  15. For me knowing that I’m well past all of this “stage” of life ~ (I’m grandma now)makes reading your blog entertaining as well as informative (lots of cool info to share with my adult children that they can put into use ~ if they chose too~ with their families) … that being said I thought for having writers block you certainly turned out an amusing entry to read!!! Yes, darling you are ‘fabtastic’ ~ or simply Maveroulous :)
Just keep on writing what is most on your mind to share and you’re good to go I think.

  16. I have always thought you were fantastic since I began carrying you around in MY womb!! And I can’t think of a better mom to carry this new little grandson around in HER womb. You are just the right size at just the right time for just the right little guy. Don’t let anyone tell you differently!!–Mom

  17. Your mom is such a sweet lady! I’d say you are doing a fabulous job too! Whenever I get writer’s block, I have a couple of places that I look for inspiration:

    Lorelle on WordPress: http://lorelle.wordpress.com/2006/01/23/blogging-tips-hundreds-of-resources-for-finding-content-for-your-blog/

    Or The Blog Herald:
