I Scream, You Scream

Disclosure: This post is brought to you by Edy’s and The Motherhood. I was provided with product coupons and compensated for my time, but all opinions are mine.

I mentioned yesterday that this summer I gave the Whole 30 eating plan a try. At the end of the day the plan was totally doable outside of desperately missing an occasional glass of wine and needing an ice cream fix. In the winter I could easily live without both of those things, but this is the middle of summer!! A girl needs her ice cream.

The Motherhood recently sent me coupons to try all four of Dreyer’s/Edy’s Limited Edition flavors and we had a little family taste test to see which one we liked the best.

  • “Take the Cake”:  Yellow cake-flavored light ice cream with a frosting swirl and multi-colored sprinkles. It’s the classic combination of cake and ice cream in one convenient carton.
    • Available in Slow Churned Light Ice Cream.
  • NEW “German Chocolate Cake Spectacular!”: If you froze a German Chocolate Cake and then exploded it into a carton of chocolate ice cream, you’d end up with this amazing limited edition flavor. Chocolate ice cream with a caramel coconut swirl and brownie pieces.
    • Available in both Grand and Slow Churned varieties
  • NEW “Sunny Salted Caramel Pretzel”: salty, sweet and oh so scrumptious. Vanilla ice cream with a salted caramel swirl and pretzel pieces. It’s probably the greatest flavor combination in the history of the world.
    • Available in both Grand and Slow Churned varieties
  • “3 Stripes You’re Out”: America’s Favorite Pastime has a new favorite flavor! Vanilla Ice Cream with Mixed Blueberry and Strawberry Swirls. This Limited Edition flavor will leave your home crowd on its feet cheering!
    • Available in Grand Ice Cream.

In our house is was pretty much a tie with Lily and I thinking the Salted Caramel Pretzel was the most amazing ice cream that ever was made. And Ryan and Hannah arguing in favor of Take the Cake. Silas would have proved a tie breaker but he was more “eat all the ice cream!!” Honestly the biggest surprise of the bunch was 3 Stripes You’re Out. I sounded kind of boring, but was actually pretty amazing. My mother in law threw in her vote for it.

What I love about Dreyer’s/Edy’s Ice Cream is that they offer their slow churned varieties. All the taste and ½ the fat (with ½ the fat and 1/3 fewer calories than regular ice cream). Ice cream with less guilt? Sign me up!!

In honor of National Ice Cream Month, Dreyer’s/Edy’s Ice Cream wants to give you “A Reason to Smile.” They are partnering with Operation Smile, an international children’s medical charity, to make possible 500 reconstructive surgeries for children around the globe suffering from cleft lip, cleft palate and other facial deformities.  The do amazing work.

Every two weeks Dreyer’s/Edy’s will post content on their Facebook page encouraging people to help them donate to Operation Smile. So far they have raised $30,000 and are well on their way to their goal of $125,000 by Sept. 30th. Please head over and “like” their page so you can be part of this great initiative.

I would like to give you “A Reason to Smile”!! I have two coupons for free Edy’s ice cream for a lucky reader (*cough* get the Salted Caramel Pretzel *cough*). To enter, simply leave a comment telling me your favorite flavor of ice cream. Contest ends July 21st. Good luck!

Seriously, not being able to eat ice cream is the hardest part of being dairy-free for the baby. Especially in summer. I’ve been considering buying an ice-cream maker so I can make some with coconut milk or something. I WANT ME SOME ICE CREAM.
