I Am Immediately Regretting This Decision (Not Really, It Is Just What The Doctor Ordered)

movie  We have had quite the weekend around here. Friday was a major snowstorm. School was cancelled, even the hubby didn’t work. We ended up with about a foot of snow. Friday is typically the day of the week when the girls head down to my mom’s house for “Grandma Day”, and I get all sorts of things accomplished. Even though my parents live down the street, we didn’t send them down so the accomplished thing? Didn’t happen.

Saturday the weather gave us a brief respite so we sent the girls down for a belated “Grandma Day” and cookie baking extravaganza. The hubby and I went on an errand running mission. You know where you don’t want to be on Saturday after a major snowstorm. Anywhere that falls under the errand category. Cause everyone else and their dog is out running them. Meijer had every lane open and every lane had at least 7 people in it ready to check out. And it didn’t seem like anyone was feeling much of the Christmas spirit. Except the free sample people. Many of them seemed to believe they had the greatest job on Earth. If any of them would have been handing out strong liquor, I might have kissed them on the mouth.

Saturday night was upon us which is typically when we go to church. The hubby and I looked at each other and realized we hadn’t been on a date in an embarrassingly long time. So we hopped onto Restaurant.com, got ourselves an 80% off gift certificate (code SANTA), and headed out to a nice restaurant. We didn’t even talk about potty training once. Well except to call my mom and find out that Hannah had an accident virtually the moment they walked into church. Fantastic. Then we headed to a minor league hockey game, because nothing spells romance like 2 grown men punching each other until one draws blood a mere 8 seconds into the game while people cheer them on (the hubby insists I give a shout out here to Aaron Downey-which makes this even more sad).

We left the game early cause the Red Wings were playing on TV and the hubby had forgot to tape it. I wish I was kidding, but we actually left a hockey game to go home and not miss the end of another hockey game. We really know how to rock a date night. Soon after sitting down to watch the game (I may or may not have grabbed the laptop by this point), the hubby begins to complain about feeling a little naseous. The feeling intensifies as the night goes on until shortly before bedtime it becomes a full blown vomitting extravaganza. There may have been other gastrointestinal issues going on, but I will spare you the details. I only wish I could have spared myself, but the noises coming from the bathroom are seared in my brain.

This morning we awoke to another blizzard. I think we got like 6 inches more, but CVS had a whole host of free after ECB deals going on so I braved the storm. A little white out won’t stop me from scoring Zantac and energy drinks. It’s a sickness really. Then we lazied around the rest of the day (trust me, I can make lazy a verb) and ended the night with our new weekly ritual of pulling out the hide-a-bed, popping some popcorn, snuggling in and watching a movie as a family. It is becoming my favorite time of the week.

After we put the girls down, the hubby and I came back down to the hide-a-bed and began flipping through the channels. Nothing. Seriously, TV stinks right now. So we perused our DVR and found a movie that fit our mood perfectly. One in which we didn’t have to use our brain in any way, shape or form.

anchorman

And we laughed. A lot. The perfect end cap to a not so perfect weekend. What movie do you like on those occasions?

  1. Oh you made me laugh out loud with this one! I love, love, LOVE Anchorman. I have two different versions of the DVD. And the soundtrack is currently in my car CD player. :) Stay classy, Grand Rapids. Oh wait, anyone who blogs about their husbands vomit and diarrhea noises is already timelessly classy. Which is why I LOVE you!
