Squeezed in between Black Friday and Cyber Monday was Small Business Saturday. Did you catch that. Pretty soon we will just name every single day from Thanksgiving to Halloween to make sure you shop as much as possible. It is a little ridiculous. But I am trying to do some of my shopping locally and on Etsy this year. Much like I have changed my eating to support local farmers, I really believe in keeping money local. Especially in this economy.
So I am really excited to be participating in “Handmade for the Holidays”, a celebration of West Michigan artisans by some of my favorite West Michigan bloggers. I am really exited to share with you the artist I have been partnered with, The Elegant Elle. You see I have been admiring the current trend of flowers and feathers in women’s hair. I think it is so feminine yet hip. But I have not yet been bold enough to give it a try. But her products are just the little shove I need to give it a try. You might just see me sporting a flower in my hair at a holiday party.
When I read The Elegant Elle’s profile on Etsy I knew immediately that I would love what she created.
The Elegant Elle came to be when I fell in love with the beautiful headbands and floral hair accessories that I would see celebrities wear in magazines. I couldn’t afford the $100+ price tag of the accessories they wore, so I decided to come up with my own. The hair accessories I made were intended to be worn by just myself, I had no intention of selling them. Soon my friends, family and strangers were complimenting my hair accessories when I wore them out and wanted to know where to get them! That is when The Elegant Elle was born ~ I wanted to share the beauty I created with others. I feel sexy, flirty and romantic when wearing one of my hand crafted pieces and want other women to feel the same way.
As a mom who spends way to much time in yoga pants, I really, really want to feel sexy, flirty and romantic. Don’t you? I would also like to pretend I still am fashionable. Her gorgeous headbands let me do all of the above. And she even has some adorable kid’s pieces. I don’t have any baby girls anymore (sniff), but my “big” girls would love to wear flowers in their hair. Seriously, who doesn’t want to wear flowers in their hair?
How would you like to try out this fancy trend? The Elegant Elle has offered one of my readers a $20 credit to her store.
