Frugal Friday- Some Extra Extras

frugalfriday I love me some CVS. I shop there almost weekly cause almost weekly I can get a handful of stuff for free. Plus the cashiers love me and gush over my children. I typically scope out what deals there are to be had over at Money Saving Mom if you want to get on the free toothpaste train. It is really simple to get started. Just sign up for an Extra Care Buck card and you are on your way.

But the last couple of times I have been in there, I have found a few extra Extra Care Buck deals that basically get you extra care bucks for doing what you are already doing: shopping at CVS for deals. I like to call them the extra extras.

First, somewhere near the front door look for a little red box that is a coupon center. It will basically be a scanner that will do price checks. But if you scan your extra care buck card you will also get a few extra coupons to use. That should be your first stop when you enter the CVS store.

Second, at the counter the last few times I have gone there is a little stand with a tear off tab with a picture of a cute baby. No not THAT cute baby:

cvsdiaper (that cute baby is Lily at 7 mos old in her baby modeling debut. Had to fit that in somehow).

Anyway, it was an offer to sign up for the CVS Baby Club. Each time you spend $100 in diapers and/or wipes you get $10 ECBs back. It seems that all diaper and wipe brands qualify. So be on the lookout for good extra care bucks/ coupon combinations and stock up. I know for sure this offer is good in Michigan, but I am not sure it is nationwide yet so keep your eyes open or ask your favorite cashier.

Finally, the last time I was in CVS the cashier clued me into another way to make some easy money. I stopped using plastic bags and instead bring my Envirosax bags everywhere I go. The cashier noticed and showed me a new CVS incentive to bring your own bags from home. For 99 cents you purchase a “green bag tag.” Clip it to your reusable shopping bag and every time you shop scan your extra care tag and your bag tag. Every 4th time you do that, you get 1 extra care buck back. Seriously, it does not get easier than that.

  1. oh my goodness – she’s look adorable on there. :) How fun.
Can you believe that my CVS is about the only one who doesn’t have the box to swipe the card. Trust me…I’ve let them know they are the only ones….lol. :)

  2. Wow! I had no idea CVS had those programs (other than the coupon scanner). Goodness knows I spend a small fortune in diapers!

  3. What great ideas. The diaper deal doesn’t apply to me anymore, thankfully, but I will have to remember the others.

I meant to ask you the last time you posted about those bags — are they easy to roll back up into that little pouch? I also never noticed that red box at CVS — I will have to look for it.
Is that where you ended up yesterday?
