Frugal Friday- Kideo

I have written in the past about how I love You Tube to entertain my kids. But have you seen the stuff on You Tube masquerading as kid’s programming. Let’s just say Dora was exploring some four letter words.

The thing is it is convenient to give the kids my iTouch from time to time so I can get stuff done or pee in peace. And although I had designated “favorites” on You Tube that they are not to stray from, I still get a bit nervous about what is going on.

That is why I love Kideo. The videos are screened by an advisory board. They have a bunch of cartoons like Elmo, Mickey Mouse and Word Girl. But they also just have America’s Funniest Home video type things that my kids love. Like this little gem (please, please click over. This video just makes me laugh until I cry for unexplainable reasons).

Oh and its free. What’s more frugal than free?

  1. It’s a cat, flushing a toilet….
    ROTFLOL!!!

Oh, and I hope you had a good anniversary :)

  2. I am always worried about You Tube too and don’t let the kids on it but this is great. Thank you so much for telling us about it!

  3. Thanks for the tip! I’m so paranoid about letting my kids watch You Tube. I always watch whatever it is first just in case someone splced something weird in. Paranoid much?

  4. I heart Kideos! My almost 8-year-old has figured out how to get on YouTube, though, and I have to tell her repeatedly that she can’t click on anything unless I approve it.

UGH ;) You never know when you’ll encounter something freaky on YouTube.

    Enjoy the Kideos days!

  5. Great tip! Thank you. Annalyn has decided she loves watching movies on the ‘puter. And while we haven’t stumbled onto any Dora with four-letter word videos, I’m sure it’s just a matter of time. We’ll try Kideos in the morning!
