Frugal Friday- Ask And You Shall Receive

You may have heard a rumor that I like coupons. I am not gonna get a tattoo exclaiming coupon lover or anything, but maybe a t-shirt or a bumper sticker. Ooh, or a personalized license plate that says COUPNLVR. Jenny, you could get a matching one with Ohio plates.

Anyway, what I love most is free coupons. Cause to get most coupons you gotta buy a paper. Or maybe if you are lucky, get your family’s toss offs. Sometimes you can get lucky and find a tear off pad, a coupon inside a cereal box, or get a catalina at the end of your order. But those are few and far between and not always for any products that you care about. For instance, Poise Pads? Maybe if I am going to comedy hour and laughing a lot, but hopefully I don’t need you.

Anywho, how can you get coupons for the products you really love and use? Why ask for them silly. Seriously, email or write the company and let them know you enjoy your product and ask for coupons. Often times they send you really good coupons, way better than what you would find in the newspaper. I have even gotten coupons for free products. And if you happen to blog about a product then definitely let them know. You never know what you are going to get from that. If you can save the coupons until the product goes on sale to maximize your savings.

I would love you to let me know if this has worked for you. Let me know in the comments.

  2. hey Jill – I thought I should let you know that Smart Source (the people who put the coupons in the paper) make their coupons available on their website as well, for free. I assume you know that, being the Coupon Queen and all that. But your comment about buying a paper made me think this website is worth mentioning.

    Happy hunting!

I always make sure that I contact the company if I am not satisfied with the product. I need to do more contacting to the company when I am satisfied with the product. : )

  5. This is a really great idea. I work in marketing and it is true that if someone contacts us and asks for a discount, we offer it. I just never thought to do it myself.

  6. Erin G mentioned Smart Source from the newspaper offering their coupons online, so does Red Plum – there, no need to waste money on the newspaper anymore…
