This ain’t your mama’s rules. You no longer have to wait until Memorial Day to wear white. I have broken out the white jeans several times already and have a white eyelet dress I can’t wait to break out when I have a reason to dress up a bit. Here are five of my favorite whites you need for this summer.
1. White Jeans
Every woman needs a good pair of white jeans. I know skinny jeans are really in style right now and I own them in several colors and patterns, but I like a straight leg in my white jeans. They are a little more timeless this way. These are very affordable and flattering.
Every woman also needs a great white blouse. And in the summertime I think an Oxford is the perfect weight. I have this one from Land’s End and it is my favorite. Wear it with shorts, a skirt or over a maxi dress tied at the waist. Even though it has longer sleeves you can still get a lot of use out of it this spring and summer.
A white eyelet dress might seem very summery, but throw a denim jacket (also a must have item in every woman’s closet, this one from Old Navy is perfect) over it and it will work in spring as well. You could even pair it with boots if your toes aren’t quite ready for sandals.
There are a million ways to style a white t-shirt. I could do a whole post on just that. Add a scarf, bold necklace or blazer. Layer it with a denim jacket or chambray shirt. Or go all Jennifer Aniston and simply pair it with a pair of jeans and simply silver necklace. Either way, you should own a good one and these Gap t-shirts are a classic. You can get the same effect with a white tank. I love this one from Target.
5. Wild Card- White Lace Shorts
I am seeing these all over Pinterest and fashion blogs this spring. I find them quite adorable on other people, but not sure this middle aged mom can pull them off. What say you? Will you be trying the lace short trend? I really like the length on these from Piperlime.
So no need to wait until the end of May. Break out your white must haves and get a little more wear out of them by starting now.
