One of my favorite readers Sarah asked me to cover shoes in a fashion post. While I am not a shoe connoisseur like many a fashion maven, I do have some definite shoes on my wish list this fall. My closet is too small to go completely shoe crazy, but I could probably use the hall closet if I really got desperate.
1. Pointed flats:
I love a good heel (especially because I am 5’2”), but honestly as a mom I just can’t rock heels very often. Ballet flats are still in, but pointy flats are very trendy this season. I love the look because it adds just a little more dressiness to your look. I am madly in love with these polka dotted flats from Old Navy, but I am between sizes. Stupid feet. I also keep seeing gold tipped pointed flats all. over.
I resisted this trend for a few years thinking it was frankly stupid. But it has totally grown on me and now I am desperate for a black pair. I love the buckle wrap on this one from Piperlime. They look awesome with skinny jeans and on Pinterest I keep seeing it with dresses. I haven’t tried that look yet, but plan on trying it soon.
I got some loafers last year and they became my go to shoes last fall. There is something so preppy and sophisticated about loafers. They look great with skinny jeans or boyfriend jeans. Really they look great with anything. I have a grey flannel pair, but these tweed ones from Gap are adorable.
Leopard is everywhere this fall but it can be an overwhelming trend to embrace. Shoes are a PERFECT way to embrace it and you can treat it as a neutral. These ballet flats are adorable. Or you can try a loafer style(LOVE). Leopard print pumps are kind of like a little black dress. Or if you are really brave, check out these leopard booties (I seriously want these bad boys).
5. Riding boots
I don’t see this trend going anywhere for a long time so in my humble opinion this is one place to invest a little money. Cognac boots are super hot right now and these from Nine West are absolutely gorgeous. Wear them over leggings of with your skinny jeans tucked in them. Throw on a big cozy sweater. Lather, rinse, repeat.
