Apparently I took a little jaunt over to Wales today. And while I was there I was held at gunpoint and robbed of all my belongings. So won’t you please wire me some money and help me get back to the sates. Yes, I was hacked. And the process of getting everything back to normal is a tedious one. And just when I think I have done everything I discover another thing. Like my address book is empty. Why? I don’t know. So I don’t have anyone’s address. I lost eight hours of emails. I lost hours and hours of productivity. I also spend many banging my head against the wall hours with various customer service representatives trying to straighten all this out. Bottom line? Make your passwords very strong. And avoid Wales. Apparently it is full of thugs.
So where is the Finer Thing? Well all of this crazy stuff happened on a day when I had really, really rare pampering things scheduled. I got to be part of Lily’s school Christmas party which was a fun little glimpse into her world. Then I met my friend Lisa for a much needed pedicure. During which we laughed and realized yet again that we don’t see each other NEAR enough. From there I headed out to a coffee shop to sit with a cup of tea and work uninterrupted for a few hours. Of course I wasn’t super productive because I spend most of that time trying to climb out of the nightmare that was the email hack. But then, I had an appointment for a massage. My parents had bought one too many Groupons and gifted me one and it was HEAVENLY.
So I came home to wound up children, a messy kitchen, and unfolded laundry. But I also came home to squeals of delight that I was home, a cooked meal and mojito from my hubby, and the reminder that in the scheme of things an email problem really isn’t that big of a deal. And perspective, my friends, is the finest thing of all.
