Favorite Plug Ins- Works For Me Wednesday

WFMW  I guess if you aren’t a blogger this post will be super boring, but if you are a blogger you will love knowing about a few of my most favorite plug-ins. P.S. Switch to WordPress so you can use plug-ins. Seriously, do it now.

  1. WordPress Editorial Calendar: When I got a new computer I lost my calendar that I planned out all my blogs posts on. This calendar actually sits in your dashboard and allows you to plug in ideas, drafts or scheduled posts. So easy.

  2. And The Winner Is: If you ever have run a giveaway and wanted to pull out your hair counting entries for a winner, this takes all the hassle out. Simply push a button and it randomly draws a winner for you. I cannot tell you how happy this plug in makes me. I will pause while you install it.

  3. Broken Link Checker: Broken links hurt your SEO. SEO frankly makes my head want to explode, but I do know that. This plug in finds them and lets you easily fix them. Easy as that.

  4. WP Touch: I would bet that many of your blog readers are reading your blog on a phone. This plug in allows them to do so in a readable format. Seriously, go grab your phone and see. It isn’t fancy, but it works.

  5. Four seems wrong. I have a bunch of other plug ins but they don’t seem earth shattering.

So what plug ins do you love? Give me a fifth.

  2. I don’t have a fifth suggestion, but I have a very strong “I second that!” for the WP Editorial calendar. It really helps me stay on track, which I have a strong tendency NOT to do…

  3. I love the REPLYME plugin. It does the reply-within-the-comments thing and emails the reply. It’s the best.

  4. And just think, last night I didn’t even know what a plug-in was. This is helpful, thanks, Jill! Putting on my big-girl panties, sucking up the “im-not-a-techie” perception of myself and figuring out this hosting/plug-in/blogging thing.

  5. Thanks so much for the And The WInner Is..plug-in. My 1st giveaway ends tomorrow, so Perfect Timing!!

  6. Hi Jen!
I really needed this post! I am hoping to do a giveaway soon and was wondering what to use! Also, I have comment reply notification on my site, but it doesn’t work for some reason so now I am trying reply me. Unless others have other recommendations!

Shoot me an email about getting together. I got set back health-wise this morning (read as…I feel awful today) but maybe soon.
Looks like you have a lot of local readers today! :-)

  7. I’m guessing that the Contest is WP exclusive. I went to the site but I don’t have much time for now to investigate. Does it work with blogger?

  8. I’m new to all this stuff, thank you so much for this post, very helpful! :) Now, to get an avatar…

  9. I don’t think Blogger has plug ins.

  10. Jill,

Just had to say that I installed Broken Link Checker on your recommendation and it is great! I’m still not up to speed enough to do the others, but thanks for a great recommendation!
