“Don’t Make Me Come Up There” Devotional for Moms (GIVEAWAY!!)- Things I Love Thursday

TILT I first discovered Kristen of We Are That Family fame a few years back. We regular competed for the top link every week at Works For Me Wednesday back when it was hosted at Rocks in my Dryer. It was a friendly competition. Mostly.

Then we got to meet in person at Blissdom 09 and she was LOVELY. Adorable, funny and humble. Seriously, you could not help but adore her. I loved following her journey on her blog and knew she had hopes of writing a book. How exciting to see that book come to fruition.

Now, let me be really honest. I stink at having daily quiet time. I rationalize it that God understands that I am low on sleep and even lower on private time. I mean I haven’t gone to the bathroom alone in seven years. But I know I need it. Badly.

What I don’t need is a mom devotional that makes me feel even more inadequate about my job as a Christian mother. And those are out there. I have read them. Thankfully, this is NOT that devotional. Don’t Make Me Come Up There!: Quiet Moments for Busy Moms is a devotional for all of us less than perfect moms who want to be able to laugh at this job we have, find the beauty in it and grow closer to God in the process.

Just like on her blog, Kristen has written a book that is hilarious, honest and humble. It is a book for those of us who are busy, and overwhelmed and feel inadequate. But it is full of stories and words of encouragement that any mom can relate to. Best of all it is made for busy moms who desire time with God, but are finding it difficult to carve out time to do so. So essentially it is a book written for me.

I think you will find it a book written for you as well. And so I am so excited to have a chance to offer you a copy of the book. Actually I have one for two of you! I know you will be blessed by it as well. Entering is simple. Leave me a comment telling me about a “don’t make me come up there” moment. If you have written a blog post about it, you can even link to. We can all laugh at, I mean with, each other.

For an extra entry, participate in Things I Love Thursday and leave an extra comment. Contest will end on Mar. 23rd when the winner will be drawn at random. Good luck!

Now, what are you loving? Simply write up a post about it. Then post the URL of your actual blog post into the linky below. Please link back to this carnival and make sure to pass the comment love around to the other participants. Any other questions? You can find all of the guidelines to Things I Love Thursday here. Thanks for linking up!!

  1. I had a crazy mom moment the other day when I told my son he needed to get out of his PJ’s and put some clothes on! He said “I already did”. The crazy part is that I was looking right at him when I said it :( and his clothes and PJ’s look nothing alike so I can’t use that as an excuse.

  6. I have a lot of these moments when I’m trying to get something done while my 2 kids are playing together — it drives me NUTS when my 3-year-old has a heart attack about his little sister touching one of his 3,000 cars.

  7. I have 4 kids, 2 girls (7&5) and 2 boys (3&1). I am forever having ‘don’t make me come up there ‘ moments. I love my kids and they keep me on my toes, but my toes are getting tired. I, too, haven’t gone to the bathroom alone in 7 years! :)

  8. That sounds like such a good book! I so know what you mean by not getting any peace. I pray every night that my 10 minute shower isn’t interrupted TOO many times. It’s my only quiet time of the day! I so look forward to it. Great giveaway, thanks!

  12. nicolerenae says:

My daughter begs to go to Zumba class with me, and I enjoy that time we have together, but last time it was “mom I need more to drink, mom I want gum, mom I can’t find the gum in your purse, mom I have to go to the bathroom, mom I want to climb the bleachers…” So much for the work out!

  13. I would love to win, but what frazzled mommy moment shall I share, there are so many! How about: the other night I almost put Chloraseptic on my son’s toothbrush instead of toothpaste. {In my defense, they are both red.} ;-)

  17. Nikki says:

I find most of my “Don’t Make me Come Up There” moments are when I suddenly realize the house is quiet. . . . I used to think that was a good thing. now, it ranks right up there with a child proclaiming “Mom, look what I just did!!!!”

and I have other moments, too. There’s “Don’t make me want to change my name” moments. There’s “If I had a nickel for every time I’ve wiped ‘something’ today…” moments.

and there’s the desperate moments. Times where I desperately need some quiet time to regain my perspective. which is when I would read this book :) Thanks for the chance to win it!

  18. Tamara Sz says:

Mine has to be when my 3 yo goes potty and then runs around the house naked afterward (especially if he hasn’t wiped his bottom!)

  19. Miranda says:

My daughter is constantly in my jewelery box playing with my necklaces. As often as she’s in stuff, it’s all a don’t make me come up there moment.

  21. Marie says:

Um, I guess most recent was, “go get your pj’s on when I really meant to say go get your clothes on and get OUT of those pajamas!

  22. Just yesterday I was using packing tape for a project and my toddler asked to hold a piece. Without even thinking, I gave her some. 5 seconds later, I was delicately removing it from her hair….
