Book Review- Loukoumi's Good Deeds

loukoumi3 Do you know how to make a kid instantly love a book? Well at least my kids? Pair it with a tape or CD. There is just something about being read to that kids love. So when I was asked to review the story of Loukoumi’s Good Deeds with a CD narrated by Jennifer Aniston and her father, the good mommy collided with the People magazine junkie and the former Days of Our Lives watcher (he is Victor you know).

I hadn’t heard of Loukoumi before, but this is the third book in the award winning series.  The title character is a cute little lamb who has a bunch of animal friends. This book is about doing good deeds for the people around you and how good you feel when you do. Now I don’t want to oversell the book, but Lily read it yesterday and today she not only made her bed, but made Hannah’s and mine too. I think I am going to mandate that we read it everyday until she leaves home for college.

If you have any Greek heritage you really should check out the Loukoumi series. They are available in Greek and English and the CDs cast of characters is a who’s who of famous Greek stars. The CD also contains 2 bonus stories and a song sung by Gloria Gaynor. And the best part of the book is that $2 of every sale benefits St. Jude’s Children’s hospital.

Head over to Loukoumi’s website for more information. You can purchase the book, find out about storytimes in your area and learn about the Loukoumi Dream Day contest in which your child could live out their dream career for the day.
