BlogHer Fashion (BlogHer ’09 Week)

model  The most intimidating thing about BlogHer does not appear to be the 1500 people that will be there. It appears to be “what to wear.” And now, just today, I read on Twitter that Tim Gunn is going to be at a Saturday event judging people’s fashion choices and choosing 2 winners to go watch a taping of project runway. Let me be clear that I don’t watch the show and so really don’t care one way or the other, and let’s be honest no preggo woman is going to win that thing, but the pressure, OH THE PRESSURE.

I haven’t fully made up my mind what I am wearing. I am procrastinating getting organized for this trip as evidenced by the fact that I just went to get business cards made today. And I leave on Wednesday. Oops. But I do have some fashionable maternity fashions that have officially made the cut and will be heading with me to Chicago. Here is a little preview for those of you dying to know and some great online resources to find cute maternity clothes.

I have already shown you my super cute dress from Shabby Apple which I will be wearing to the Thursday night cocktail parties. I have the most adorable green wedges to go with this, but they kind of kill my feet so, while normally I would suffer for fashion, I am way to pregnant to do so and I am leaving them at home. Otherwise I will be down for the count before the conference even officially begins.

Friday day we are going with our trusty friends, The Gap, and this little sundress. Actually mine is a bit longer and maternity, but you get the point. I wish I had her super cute wedges to go with it, but I think flats will be my friend since I am going to be on my feet a lot. I don’t want to be doing the pregnant waddle when I am only 7 months pregnant.

At the Friday night cocktail parties I will be sporting this fabulous dress with some cute white sandals. Isn’t it the cutest? The good people over at Bella Blu Maternity were kind enough to provide this dress and their site is packed with some of the higher end maternity brands including Japanese Weekend and Olian. They also have baby clothes and nursing wear that will cover your post baby fashion needs.

I think Saturday during the day I will wear this lovely sweater from The Gap. Probably with my trusty jean skirt. That way at night for the bowling party (in which I will be harshly judged for my fashion decisions) I can keep the jean skirt and pair it with a funky top. Now the attire calls for bowling chic. I ask you, what is bowling chic? Can bowling even be chic. And let’s all breathe a sigh of relief that I will not be bowling. There is a funny bowling story in my past, but I will leave it there and just say that thank God bowling and pregnancy don’t mix.

Anyway, for “bowling chic” I am going to sport this cute top with my jean skirt or some trouser jean shorts. I think it looks a little bit retro and a little bit bowling. Too bad I don’t have cute bowling shoes. Anywho, the lovely folks over at Kiki’s Fashions, provided me with this top. They have super affordable and trendy maternity fashions and a ton to choose from. Just be warned that their stuff tends to run a bit small, so get a size up from what you usually do.

Oh and did I mention that my fabulous friend Lisa will be my personal jewelry stylist. I get to wear amazing stuff from her Etsy store, Studio Jewelry. How fancy is that? And, check it out, she is doing a giveaway to coincide with BlogHer, but you don’t have to be a blogger or be going to BlogHer to win. You should definitely enter this one, it is a biggie.

So what do you think? Will I be the hottest preggo in town? If we are talking hot flashes then most likely. If we are talking fashion….well, I think I am doing pretty darn good too. And thanks to the companies who were kind enough to outfit me. I am sure Tim Gunn will be wildly impressed.
