Motherhood isn’t easy. And despite what Hallmark may tell you, it isn’t always rewarding. There are days when I have spent the day picking up the same messes, yelling, I mean saying, the same thing over and over and counting down the minutes until their dad gets home.
But there are moments that I want to bottle and keep in my pocket. Last weekend on Mother’s Day was full of those moments. I got adorable homemade presents. I got sweet books made at school telling me all the reasons I am a good mom. I got tons of cuddles and hugs and “I love you’s”. I got a some spa time from the hubby (score). It was an amazing weekend.
But the best part was saved for last. We continued our tradition of heading to TCBY for free ice cream on Mother’s Day. Ryan and I had taught marriage prep so our dinner was a little late so ice cream was even later. I had changed into some comfy clothes (i.e.. sweats) and Lily had already changed into pjs, but we just went with it and showed up for ice cream in all our classy glory.
At one point in our ice cream visit it was just Lily and I sitting at the table eating our ice cream. She leaned over to me and said, “Do you think it is weird that we are out in our pjs.” I agreed that it was a little weird that we were in pjs. She looked at me smiled and said,
“I actually like it. That way everyone here knows that I am my mommy’s girl.”
And then my heart exploded. And all of it……was more than worth it.
In honor of Mother’s Day, Johnson’s Baby is introducing the "Treasuring Everyday Joy" campaign, which encourages Moms to take a moment to pause and reflect on the happiness motherhood has brought them.
And if you head over to Facebook and “like” Johnson’s Baby, with every "promise" ("like") Johnson’s will donate $1 to the March of Dimes.
Also, Johnson’s will host a series of photo contests on its Facebook page beginning in May. Selected monthly winners will receive one of a variety of prizes and be eligible for the $25,000 Grand Prize, to be announced in January 2012. You know you have adorable kids. Might as well put them to work earning you money with those sweet faces.
I have been a long time fan for Johnson’s Baby products. I wrote this post while participating in a blog tour campaign by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Johnson’s and received Johnson’s Baby products and a promotional item and to facilitate my review. As always all opinions are my own.
What do you love this week? Simply write a post about it, link up below and take some time to visit the other participants. So easy, but if you need a little more help, check out the Things I Love Thursday guidelines. Thanks for participating!
