Archer Farms Fruit Strips- Things I Love Thursday

tilt  One of the hardest things to lose when we got rid of processed food was snacky things for the kids. And one of the snack foods that was met with the most protest were fruit snacks. Two years after cutting them out of our pantry and my kids still ask for them almost every week.

We have replaced them mainly with actual fruit. Go figure. But from time to time I like to be “fun mom” and bring home something of the fruit snack variety. So I got really excited when I stumbled upon these fruit leathers on sale in Target this week. You would have thought I bought my kids a pony.

The lesson here is clear. Deprive your children so much that the bar is set really low for “treats” in your house. SCORE!

Archer Farms Fruit Strips have no preservatives, no artificial flavors, and no artificial colors. And for a fruit snack the ingredient list is relatively short. And they are so yummy. Truth? I have been sneaking them at night after the kids go to bed. Don’t tell. Mom might have to be “fun” more often.

What do you “treat” your kids to?

What are you loving this week? Whatever you love, write a post about it, link back to this blog in your post, and then link up that post’s URL below. Spread the love around to other TILT participants through comments, retweets, Facebook likes…..any way you like! Thanks as always for linking up. I have the best readers in the world. Here are all the Things I Love Thursday guidelines.

  1. Hi Jill! I just got through ordering some dried fruit from peeledsnacks.com. I’m really hoping that they are as yummy as they sound! I’ll have to give the Archer Farms Fruit Strips a try too. They look delicious! Thanks for sharing about them :-)

    • I almost ordered something from PeeledSnacks.com too, after the daily deal a few days ago! Would love to hear what you think, when you get them!! :)

  2. I am soooo going to try those fruit leathers. my kids are fruit snack crazy and I am trying to get them off the junk too! Plus, my daughter just asked for fruit leathers the other day, but I couldn’t find any at our ‘normal’ grocery store. Thanks for letting us know!

  3. I am sharing tips for cilantro and how my son found freedom on the fourth. Thank you for hosting.

  4. My kiddos love those fruit strips too, and yes – after months without “snacks” in the house, they are as good as gold to the kiddos! ;) I just linked up a very “random” post… Hope you don’t mind! ;)

  5. I have warned my kids that when everything ‘treat’ish is gone from our house we will be on a break for awhile because they seem to expect a treat after every meal. Hoping this helps my waistline too but man I’m already looking for good stuff each night :(

  6. Fruit strips (kettle valley and stretch island) and the apple | apple applsauce in a pouch. You’re the second person who mentioned the archer farms ones today… must add them to the shopping list.

  7. I think it’s great that you found a healthy snack for your kids… and it must not be all that bad if you’re sneaking it too. Might have to try it! :)

  8. Good to know !!

  9. I MUST try these. My boys love fruit snacks and I have been looking for a healthier alternative. This will be perfect!

  10. They sound great! I’ll have to give them a try – I’m sure my son would love them (and me too)! :)
