Accessories- Spring Trends 2014

I thought we would spend the next several Fridays talking about trends coming up for spring. Because spring is coming eventually right? This has been the longest winter I can remember so I need something fashion related to look forward too. Or another excuse to shop. Potatoes, Potahtoes. This is the last of our spring trend roundups and next week we will jump into swimsuits and dream of someplace warm.

I have mentioned a few times that I didn’t used to understand how important accessories are to your outfits. I still am learning in this area and am not much of a bag or shoe girl (I know, blasphemy), but I am hoping to round that out this season. I know some people invest a lot in accessories, but I get bored really easily so I tend to get most of my accessories for a steal so I don’t feel bad when that trend is over and I am giving them away.

That being said, a good classic bag is totally worth the investment because it will last you a long time. And I have been burned by cheap shoes so many times as I am limping along. But jewelry, especially that statement kind, I go cheap, cheap, cheap. Here are some of the trends I am seeing for spring.

Spring Accessories

Top Row:

Earrings: You can’t go wrong with Kendra Scott. Statement earrings are a big trend this spring. Keep your necklaces smaller when you wear big earrings.

Purse: An investment bag for sure. But white is everywhere this spring and the ladylike silhouette is a major trend as well. This goes on my “when I find the money tree” list.

Shoes: Flats are pointy this season. How adorable are these stripes. These are on sale right now and might just make their way into my bag…..

Necklace:  Remember how pastels are where it is at this season? Well many of us, me included, don’t look so hot in pastels. Accessories are the perfect way to be on trend without washing yourself out. This necklace is just perfect!

Middle Row:

Purse: Bucket bags are a big trend this season. I am not sure how much longevity this trend has so I wouldn’t invest in a super pricey bucket bag. I love this one and it is super affordable (must. resist. buying. bag)

Shoes: An open toed bootie has been on my wishlist this year (I have weird wishlists). White trend + bootie trend+ cutout trend= awesome affordable Target shoes. I plan on checking these out in store this weekend and making these my own.

Scarf:  Again, another way to incorporate pastels without overwhelming your color palette. A woman can never have too many scarves…..

Purse: A totally affordable way to jump on a bunch of trends. Lady like bags and pastels and white. This bag is spring perfection!

Bottom Row:

Sandal: Wedges aren’t going anywhere soon which I think is fabulous because they give height without causing me to break my neck walking around in heels. These have kind of a cagey. gladiator feel which I think is awesome.

Necklace: I love how this necklace seems girly and edgy all at the same time. Plus that color blue is to die for.

Sunglasses:  These are just fun. I need a pair of aviators.

Shoes:  Oxfords are still a big trend this season and these are fantastic. If you want to jump into the floral trend but find major florals to be too girly, these are perfect. The oxford style brings a little masculinity to a majorly feminine print.

What trends are your favorite this spring?
