It has become an annual tradition to let my readers help me pick out our family Christmas cards. I know some people think Christmas cards are unnecessary in the age of Facebook, but it is one of my favorite things about the holiday season. I love seeing people’s families and displaying the cards in my home to enjoy throughout December.
This year we had some awesome professional photos taken so I am even more excited to order our cards. As opposed to our usual mediocre pictures taken in our dimly lit house with a cell phone……
This year we are ordering from Shutterfly. We have used them several times and their quality and customer service are always impressive. And their selection is AMAZING. Here are our top 5 considerations for holiday cards this year.
1. Fun Memories
One of the new offerings from Shutterfly are their tri-fold designs. I am pretty partial to them because they allow you to display more photos. I particularly love this one with the bright colors and the place to offer up a little Christmas update. I finally let the Christmas letter go last year, but this lets me still get a little blurb in.
2. Happiest Memories
This one just screams classy. The font, the colors – it is just perfection. We have some awesome black and white pictures that would look amazing with this card. It is a top contender for sure.
3. Joyful Blessed Wishes
Our faith is a huge part of our life and Christmas time is a very obvious time to share that with those in our lives. I think I would add some color to this card with pictures, but I like how this uses the black and white theme. It also comes in red if you want a little more color.
4. Our Top Moments
Although we got professional pictures done this year, we pretty much document our lives via cell phone pictures uploaded to Instagram. This card would be a PERFECT way to use those pictures and recap the year. So much better than just a list of highlights, this card lets you highlight the year in pictures.
5. Simplest of Joys
Since it really is all about the photos, I love the simplicity of this card. I big puffy heart love this border and the font of the word “Joy”. I even have an adorable picture of my kids snuggling like that. It might just be meant to be!!
Shutterfly has so many great card options to chose from (as well as a whole array of photo gifts that would be amazing for anyone on your list).
- Classic: Traditional colors, iconic illustrations, aspirational sentiments, snowflakes, monogram
- Contemporary: trend forward colors, texture and layering, water color techniques, shine, glitter, Instagram pictures are perfect for this style
- Whimsy: humor and nostalgia meet, fun sentiments
- Merry and Bright: all about color and having fun
- Religious: metallic type treatments, incorporated story ideas
- Photo Basics: multiple colors, vertical type, family name highlights
