Okay this is the last one. Promise. We just had so much fun and I had so much to share I couldn’t possibly cram it into one post. Thanks for indulging me this week. I probably should have made it clear from the first post that this was not a sponsored trip. We paid our way to the conference and included in that was a very reduced rate for lodging and the parks.
The conference was all about strengthening families and creating memories together. As you have seen this week, the making memories part was easy. And although I think we have a really strong family, I loved being able to be all together doing activities specifically to increase that bond.
Whether it be discussion questions at lunch, a fun photo booth with funny props, or competing in a crazy minute to win it type challenge we spent the two day conference working together and having a blast.
me wrapping Hannah in toilet paper (ps. we won that one!!)
Part of the reason this conference was so affordable were the amazing sponsors. And the awesome thing was instead of just interacting with sponsors in a booth in an exhibit hall, they actually provided content for our sessions!
Obviously Universal Orlando and Loews Royal Pacific were amazing sponsors. Southwest Airlines also provided five families with round trip airfare to come to the conference and gave away several tickets while we were there.
National Geographic kids had our families do a fun activity where we talked about the different members of our family and what animal might best represent them. I loved hearing the kids talk about what characteristics they saw in each other. It was 80% lovely and kind (keeping it real). I also love that they said I was like the queen bee because I am in charge of everyone and the queen (keeping it real there as well).
Probably our favorite activity of the conference was put on by Duck Tape and Cricut. I am possibly the least crafty person on the planet, but I have birthed very crafty children. So when we got to create Duck Tape crafts with the help of a Cricut machine, my kids made purses and ties and hair bows. I saw people making elaborate superhero capes. I managed to make a pathetic looking case for my tablet.
But, good news!! I have a chance to redeem my lame craft making skills forever!! Our family won the Cricut/Duck Tape raffle and are eagerly awaiting our prize of all sorts of fun loot. I mean eagerly. Like every day the kids ask me if it came and Grace now wants a Duck Tape birthday party.
A true testament to how amazing the conference was is that not once did my kids ask when we could leave the conference center despite the fact that the amazing resort and parks were practically right outside the door. We just enjoyed being together and it really didn’t matter where we were. Realizing that was the best gift we could have received that week. It is my favorite memory of all.
