Translating the Golden Globes Red Carpet to Your Closet

Golden Globes

There are few things on TV that I get more excited about than award season. I really don’t care as much about the actual awards (because the last time I saw a non-animated movie in the theater was 2002). But the FASHION!!

Obviously I’m not going to have many occasions to wear a full length sequined gown. But I think we can take some of the trends we see at the award shows and translate them to our closet. Or we can just sit and dream about Jennifer Lawrence asking us to be her BFF and go to fancy Hollywood parties with her.

Here are a few of the big trends I saw at this year’s Globes:

1. Color blocking:

Color Blocking GG

Color blocking has been around for a while and it is such an easy trend to embrace!

2. Red:

Red GG

Perfectly timed for Valentine’s Day, red is hot. These dresses are amazing and red isn’t hard to bring into your wardrobe whether it be as the main attraction or an accessory.

3. Metallics:

I have been loving this trend for a while and happy to see it is here to stay. Again, if you are afraid of the bling being the main attraction, you can definitely use it as an accessory.

Metallic Trend

shirtpants, scarf

4. Black and White:

Black and White GG

First of all that first dress from Margot Robbie is just to die for. My favorite. Black and white is the easiest trend to wear ever.

maxi dress, pants, purse (I have this and get CONSTANT compliments)

5. Statement Earrings

Statement Earrings GG

First can we just talk about how badly JLaw is making me want to shop off all my hair. That girl is ROCKING the pixie.

This is an area of major fail for me. I have a ton of statement necklaces but always seem to wear the same boring silver hoops. I am making 2014 the year of the statement earring. Here are some on my wishlist.
